I drove my car up to the top with the family, parked it there and went down by the track to Cooks Landing, going back to the top by taking the stairs. It rained at that day but the scene from above is stunning. This place must do when visit Gisborne.

Great views all around the bay and over Gisborne. Road to top and/or walk ways around the hill. Well worth the effort.

The walkway is quite exposed so hard going on a hot summers day. Close to town if looking for something to do, views ok.

Frankly, I looked at maps and pics and created an image of the place in my mind, and that ruined this place for me. Don’t do that. Just go here, the view is beautiful. Don’t compare it with any other place.

Stunning views of the city and bay from the top, can see Mahia on a clear day. Shame there isn't any cultural points of interest up the hill, would be nice to know about Maori history of the hill. Be nice to have the observatory open to public and have it something like Star Dome in Auckland, or planetarium in London be great for schools and public to view stars and for special occasions like Matariki. Just think the visitor revenue that could be generated from cruise ships that visit and also visitors to the region would have another attraction they could go to.
