Took a tour around this area with a long-time local. Fascinating history. Interesting views: second world war bunker, timber yards and of course the town. Three rivers including the shortest river in the world.

First of all you drive through the industrial portside and past some government slum then wind your way up the hill to the lookout. From up here you can't see how the logging industry has polluted the waterways and littered the beaches. On a clear...More

It is just outside town and well worth a drive to the top for a good view. The road round to the beach was disappointing, unless you are looking to walk all the way up.

We walked up from the city. In places it was a little challenging though manageable for people of average fitness. There are lots of little areas to explore. You are able to access the area by road also

It is only a 5minute drive from the citu centre. The lookout has just about 365degree views. You can see most of the city and the ocean looks beautiful from here.

We were struggling to get an idea of the layout of the area and decided that a trip to the viewing point was in order. The approach road is a bit twisty but well worth the effort. The panoramic views from the viewing point were...More

A beautiful sunny day in Gisborne, best place to see the great view from Sponge Bay to Waikanae Beach. Six wedding cars (one group) came to the lookout for their wedding photos.

Gives a great view of the city on one side and the beaches on the next side and then at the top look over Young Nicks Head and down to Mahia. You can see that Poverty Bay is a bay from up here....
