This playground has huge slides and a great flying fox as well as crows nests and a great basket swing. Our kids had a fantastic time. Nice public bathrooms right by the park also.

We wandered in here after flying in from the States. What a beautiful spot of green space in the middle of Ponsonby. There were many other people there enjoying a beautiful day outside. If you're in Auckland near Ponsonby, check it out!

Walking down on Ponsonby rRoad as recommended by the most helpful and charming local lady we saw this park. It is so inviting, offering calmness and solitude. Tables and benches are scattered around, some people rather enjoy sitting, lying on the grass, etc. but, the most interesting aspect is the concrete blocks of roofing and windows half buried in the slopes. Very charming. One says, ‘Birds used to sit here and watch people down below’.

You know you've found the park when you see the "half-buried" buildings from Ponsonby Road. There are a few paths that head down the other side of the park as well as a couple of side entrances on either side.
There are a few tables on the Ponsonby Road side so you can easily grab some food and enjoy it here.
There is a playground on the far end (away from Ponsonby Road) as well as exercise trails. The park itself is quite nice to walk around since it's not as busy as the roads.

A great little getaway in the concrete jungle that is Auckland. Especially in spring, the place has great charm. Very green and diverse.

City's most notable open spaces covering about 8 ha at very busy Ponsonby area. A really green oasis with mature big trees and bushes, beautiful undulating ground and walkways. Entry from several points. From Ponsonby a unique building ruins welcomes you. While other entry points from Beresford Street provide visitors with children playground with sliding tubes, flying fox etc, and tennis court, all for free. A place for the whole family enjoying and gathering, or physical exercising. Cool place.

Western Park is worth visiting if you are in the area, I wouldn't make a long trip just because of this park though. The park is close to Ponsonby. Safe and clean park.

We walked through this park to go from Ponsonby to Queen Street - it takes about a half hour and you need a walking app. A beautiful park with gorgeous trees and views, an excellent playground for children with a small flying fox, built in rebounders... round tables with chairs for picnics or hanging out and reading and great sculptures on the Ponsonby side of the park.

There are a lot of good things about this park. It's old with many beautiful trees. It goes along a creek below the city around, so it's a good place to escape from the city. It has interesting "ruines" catching eye. The only thing you need to consider is goes quite steep up/downhill, so it may be somewhat hard to go up and down.
