Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

As someone who is always out on the water this was a really rewarding experience for me - and it was also a great way to get out on the water on a beautiful day.

My work allows for staff to take volunteer leave, so I contacted Katja at Blue Voluntours. She arranged a day out on the Harbour, on a vessel operated by Sea Cleaners whose purpose is to clean up coastal areas and waterways in the Auckland Harbour and Hauraki Gulf.

We went by boat from Westhaven to Rangitoto Island and were dropped off at several spots with Rubbish bags, where we collected rubbish that had washed up on the foreshore. A helpful tip – wear clothes that you don’t mind getting a bit grubby and are suitable for physical activity.

The Skipper was passionate and really knowledgeable - he had some eye-opening facts about the impact of waste on sea-life and the quality of our waterways.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting an environmental tourism or Corporate volunteering outing and those with a social conscience. I’ll definitely do it again.

I decided to do the sea cleaning tour. It's been an amazing trip and I recommend it to everyone! Katja is such a nice and friendly person and I had great fun cleaning the ocean with her!

Thanks Laura, it was great having you and Annika on the tour. The ocean around Rangitoto Island is a little bit cleaner today. Hope to see you again on one of our Blue Voluntours.

We recently took a group of 25 young adults on the Stand Up Paddle boarding & Marine education tour with Blue Voluntours. Katja was so friendly and professional, and organised everything perfectly. We started the morning off with an information session on the ocean, and some startling facts about it's current state. After a question and answer session, we got kitted up for our Paddle boarding lesson which was run by the Board Store NZ in conjunction with Blue Voluntours. This was a great lesson and lots of fun! The girls all really enjoyed it. We then spent around about 30 minutes cleaning up our local beach of all it's hidden rubbish and litter, as to stop it from reaching our beautiful ocean. All in all, a very informative and enjoyable morning! I felt like i walked away having had a great workout as well as being educated on keeping our oceans clean and beautiful.

I highly recommend this tour to anyone and everyone. Varied activities makes this a great tour for anyone with a love of the beach or conservation. Plenty to learn from enthusiastic PhD students and a behind the scenes tour of the Discovery Centre - run by Auckland University.
Loved getting stuck in with the research work and it felt great to 'give back' through helping to clean up the marine reserve.

Goat Island is an iconic New Zealand treasure. What better way to visit than to leave your mark with conservation?
