Take Time to See the Flowers
A “must see” place in the Auckland Domain is the Wintergardens. Two large glasshouses displaying temperate and tropical plants has been in existence since 1913. Between the two glasshouses is a terraced, enclosed courtyard with marble statues, fountains, and a fishpond. To the left side of the courtyard is the Fernery filled with native New Zealand plants. The gardens are open to the public and there is no admission cost. What a wonderful, serene haven in the middle of the city for visitors and New Zealanders alike!

Beautiful Conservatory Gardens near Auckland Museum
After spending several hours exploring the Auckland Museum, we walked down the hill to visit the Winter Garden. These 2 beautiful glasshouses house an incredible range of plants, both from tropical and temperate climates. Originally built after WW1, the houses have recently been renovated to ensure these buildings are going to continue to flourish. The breathtaking courtyard between the houses has some lovely marble statues from the 1800's, which always make me stop and admire the artists skills. Great place to visit while in the area, especially those who have an infinity with all things flora.

    Grand Old Dame - fascinating
Wintergarden, grand olde-worlde feel to the iconic glasshouse enclosure - sea of mesmerizing colourful flowers/plants wherever you look, foxgloves, geraniums,.. too many plants to Ahmm+Aaahh over, photos, selfies. Fascinating and beautiful (it closed for a time for restoration); exterior: we found waterlillies, ponds & fountain - will come again soon. (I have gait/walking challenges (stroke), wear a legbrace.)

Worth a visit whatever the season
Excellent free attraction in Auckland. Good add on as a visit to the Auckland Museum or as a standalone excursion. Just a nice quiet place for a wander - come rain or shine. Beautifully restored and maintained 110 year old tropical gardens.

Long walk to Auckland Domain, a sprawling big space with museum and more. The Winter Garden is a beautiful space with colourful flowers. Many visitors posing for selfies.

A beautiful, frosty walk through the crunchy leaves in the Auckland Domain and then in to see the riot of colour in both glass houses. Fascinating to see all the different flowers, succulents and plants. A gorgeous setting.

Really pretty garden, lovely groundstaff as well. One groundsman was kind enough to point out a morepork in the tree canopy and tell us all about it and the wildlife present.

Haven’t been in a while, hot house currently under upgrade so off limits, love the fern area, completely different environment and cooler on a hot day like today.

Lots of colour inside, place could do with a bit of a tidy up, bit tired in some areas.
