Beautiful gothic church, relevant sermon if you attend and if you like church music, wonderful interspersions by professional singers and the organist is also wonderfully accomplished. The venue is used for concerts. There is adjacent paid parking during business hours.

Amazing cathedral, beautiful services and the Monsignors are so welcoming. Worth a visit, just arrive early if you are heading to the service, if not you won't get a seat.

Great worship experience in this beautiful cathedral. The service was traditional with beautiful hymns sung by the choir accompanied by a great organist.

Took a quick peek inside the church before catching a bus outside of it. The stone walls were impressive with pretty stained glass.

We have just spent the last four days in Auckland staying right near this lovely church so walked past it numerous times, by the look of the sign outside this church has lots of different groups that call this place home. Very impressive when you see it walking up Hobson Street, love the architecture, inside it is very nice all... More

Every second month (for years) we have attended the great concerts of St Matthews Chamber Orchestra and always enjoyed the setting, windows and acoustics of this place.

St Mathews in the City is an interesting place that is a visual treat with interesting stained glass windows and a good treat for architecture fans. I was there for the Bach Musica Rachmaninov Vespers concert and I can attest to the good acoustics inside the cathedral.

Went here for a company party, the venue was amazing and just so warm and cozy on a cold night. The venue looks amazing with a bit of mood lighting

Popped in last week - heard about the place from a friend. It's a bit unusual as eating joints go, but the building is exquisit. The seating's somewhat spartan, though the price is more than reasonable: they didn't actually ask for anything but someone came past us with a tray of money. We didn't really need any, so we didn't... More

Firstly, this is a gay-friendly church, so that gives a good hint about the philosophy of the clergy and regular members. It features a mix of traditional and new-age worship, and thus has something for almost everyone. Also, this church building features one of the most sophisticated retrofit organs I've come across; wonderful sound! Definitely worth a visit :)
