Terrific Takapuna Cafe!
May 2021 • Couples
Visited this establishment twice. It occupies a premium location overlooking the Hauraki Gulf. The staff are very helpful and professional in looking after one's requirements. Our food was fresh and delicious and they make a very good coffee. We avoided sitting inside as the noise of patrons conversations were rather loud. Outside was ideal to get away from the din plus you got an uninterrupted sea view. Highly recommended.

GREAT VIEWS.
Feb 2020
Takapuna Beach is an attractive sandy beach with views of the dominant landmark of Rangitoto Island. It is one of the finest inner city beaches.

Idyllic Beach
Nov 2020
Excellent for walking with dogs. The sea is very quiet. Quite a long beach to walk. Unfortunately there aren't toilets we could locate around. There may be one hidden somewhere.

Beach Vibe
Jul 2020 • Family
Takapuna Beach has the Vibe!
Grew up in Takapuna, spent fun summer days on the beach. People love it there, playground for the kids, amazing restaurants/bars to enjoy and one of the best views of Hauraki gulf and the iconic Rangitoto! Swimming, boating, waterskiing, kite surfing, walks and dogs allowed, something for everyone. Join the Vibe!!

Clean beach
Jan 2020
I enjoy coming to Takapuna beach as it is clean, not too busy and it has a great playground for the little ones. Also a lot of trees so you can find some shade if needed.

An evening stroll
Feb 2020
Lots of large interesting shells for those who like to collect. Parking was tight on a Wednesday night. Lots of good and varied restaurants.

Beautiful summer's day
Jan 2020
This beach is great for relaxing at on a nice summer's day like today 31/1/20. We went when the tide was high and swam in clear waters with snorkeling gear. We saw sand and shells mostly but we were close to the shore. If you are a confident swimmer you might see more if you swim further out. It's a nice beach to relax on and great for familys. It's not densely populated with holiday makers looking for surf to ride the waves because there aren't any so more suited to those who want to soak in the water and frolick around. Plenty of trees in parklike surrounds with the North Shore city of Takapuna in the backdrop offering plenty of eateries if you haven't packed a picnic. There are permanent hamocs to lie on near the children's playground just behind a couple of sun loungers; provided by the local council. A good way to finish a busy day or an easy to get to beach where you don't have to drive for miles. Only a 15 minute drive from the city centre in no traffic. It's worth the visit.

One of the best and popular (particularly for dog walkers) North Shore Beaches
Jan 2020
My wife and myself are currently holidaying in Auckland staying at the lovely Emerald Inn in Takapuna (Review to follow) which is not much more than a hop, skip and a jump from Takapuna Beach.

This is about a mile long and probably - particularly amongst the dog-walking community - one one of the most popular North Shore beaches. I certainly enjoy my morning and evening walks and would encourage others in the vicinity to do likewise!

Good for a stroll
Dec 2019 • Friends
The beach is always good for a stroll especially on a nice day. The restaurants in the area are okay but most are not that great.
