Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Auckland Town Hall is a striking historical building along Queen Street in Aotea Square. The building is Italian Renaissance Revival style and was opened on 14 December 1911 by Lord Islington, the Governor of New Zealand at the time. It takes pride of place in Aotea Square which itself isn't a hugely attractive square but the Town Hall certainly makes the area more appealing.

Auckland Town Hall is located in Aotea Square in Queens Street. The historic neo-Baroque styled building is impressive which is still in use for its concert chamber & events. The stained glass windows & other features create a charming sophisticated building.

The Auckland Town Hall which is in Aotea Square is an easy place to meet in the city as it has plenty of parking below and a lot of good eateries nearby

We visited from the UK. We booked a concert here and they forced us to use Ticketmaster and forced us to use the Ticketmaster app. The concert was scheduled for 7.30pm. As we ate supper (with phones off of course), Ticketmaster sent a message at 6.60pm saying it was cancelled. We didn't see the message of course. We arrived at the venue to be told the news and were not even invited in to see the interior of the building. Very unprofessional by all involved. They didn't even have the courtesy of offering discounts on a future concert though that wouldn't have been any use to tourists. Had they told us earlier, even an hour earlier, we could have gone to another event. Hopeless. As they say; like the UK 40 years ago.

We came here to attend a concert and absolutely love the architecture of this building. It has such a grand feel to it with a rich historical aura. The clock tower above is impressive. Closed by to all the nearby inner city attractions. Highly recommended for a visit.

I heard a number of New Zealand Symphony Orchestra concerts here last year and intentionally sat in different parts of te hall to judge the acoustics. Except for seats directly above the orchestra, the sound was amazing. And the setting! A neo-Baroque style building built in 1911 and restored in 1997, it's pleasure to look at and a treat to be inside! The thunderous organ deserves a review of its own. Alas, the public can only see inside if they go to a concert (why no guided tours?) so go to a concert!! Upcoming shows on the Town Hall web-site.

The Auckland Town Hall is lovely, we went hopping to se the organ as it was similar to the one we saw while visiting Adelaide last year but no like. Very friendly staff at the reception, copied us the bus time table for the zoo, saw same artifacts belonging to Sir Edmund Hillary a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer and philanthropist on the wall and cabinet there were display of Auckland International Partnership on the wall and glass in Aotea Square there is a Statue of Sir Dove-Myer Robinson City Councillor 1952-1959 and Mayor of Auckland City 1959-1965 & 1968-1980.

Over 100 years old, Auckland Town Hall serves as a concert facility as well as an administrative center. I briefly toured the interior but was unable to view the much larger Great Hall. The building facade is an attractive edge to Aotea Square.
