Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We bought our son a Red Balloon first flying lesson and the staff here are fantastic, he was very excited, thye explained everything and he has a young pilot who was very good and made it a really positive experience for him, they certainly bought out the spark for flying in him, he would definately do that again,

Had 1 hour flight lesson here. Flew plane for a good hour and got to participate in takeoff, turning, up and down, turning while going up and down, and other facets of flying. Flight was a scenic flight over Auckland and The Hauraki Gulf.
Just brilliant!

While there were nice instructors there, the business was a bit of a sausage factory. I'd recommend the more friendly environments like Auckland aero club.

My partner surprised me with a voucher for a 1 hour flying lesson from the Ardmore Flying School and I went through the whole gamete of emotions... Fear, excitement, fear, fear...OK, mainly fear! It felt like the worst present ever and yet it turned out to be one of the very best. Just brilliant, I cannot recommend this experience highly enough. The instructors at Ardmore Flying school are complete professionals, who know they are dealing with nervous students. A bit of time on the ground, getting to know the plane, running through the safety checks and controls really helps. My partner was able to join us in the plane and for the first time in his life he was a well behaved passenger (no backseat driving from him!). When it came time to get off the ground, I was given the choice of a more scenic, less hand-on lesson, flying over Auckland city, or a proper flying lesson in the airspace over Ardmore and Clevedon; I chose the latter and it was a great choice. The instructor got the plane into the air with me ghosting lightly on my set of controls before the lesson properly commenced. Once I had a reasonable understanding of what did what and how hard to push, pull and turn things, we explored the sky around us, using the practice airspace before maneuvering onto a runway approach. We landed and took off again a few seconds later, with me in charge of the controls, it was amazing! 5 times we went round, landed and took off again before following the water beneath us on its path towards the sea. Some breathtaking views later, we turned around and returned to Ardmore, with me landing the plane one final time. I don't remember ever telling my Mummy that I wanted to be a pilot, but crikey, I'd love to be a pilot now! Excellent value, an awesome experience - everybody should be fortunate enough to do this at least once - if a flying lesson isn't on your bucket list, it really should be.

I was introduced to Ardmore Flying School back in the 70s long before computers or trip advisor came into being. I became a student pilot flying on many occasions. Back then I found them very good with preflight checks and very much hands on. After take off I was given full control of the aircraft to get the feel. Both my brother in law and my nephew passed their test at Ardmore. Having to return back to the UK I had to stop flying. I still get good reports about the school and would not hesitate to start again if and when I return.

I came to Ardmore Flying School for an "intro Flight" a few weekends ago and it was brilliant. The instructor was so enthusiastic and helpful, she talked me through everything from a pre-flight inspection of the plane through to take-off and even landing!
The instructor let me have so much hands-on time and taught me so much, whilst still appreciating the amazing view of the city we had from the plane. A must do on a beautiful day, great value for money and a very welcoming school, Highly recommended.
