About
AUCKLAND SEAPLANES operates from the Auckland Harbour Aerodrome from where the first pioneering flying boats flew 80 years ago. Fast forward to today; Auckland Seaplane's 8-seater De Havilland Beaver Floatplane can be seen taking off from the heart of the City of Sails and flying to stunning island destinations in the Hauraki Gulf and beyond. Auckland Tourism comments that the Seaplane is an exciting and welcome addition to the Auckland tourism palette, bringing an air of swashbuckling adventure, history and romance to the Wynyard Quarter. A region as vast and majestic as the Auckland region can only be truly appreciated form the air. Our aerodrome is the most convenient departure point for passengers given its walking distance from many hotels, the main shopping district and its good connection to the public transport/ferry network. The Hauraki Gulf's pristine beaches and bays serve as destinations for the seaplane. Passengers can enjoy scenic flights, wine-tastings, dining, overnight stays, transfers, adventure tours, fishing trips in breath-taking locations. The possibilities are endless! Our team is composed of qualified pilots and professionals, eager to provide a unique, first-class experience to locals and tourists alike. We have nationalities covering all corners of the globe, all passionate about showcasing the beauty, culture and possibility of the Auckland Region.

beautiful. In first week of January we roamed few beautiful sightseeing places like Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park, Crossed Homer Tunnel, Hamilton Park, etc. But, the experience of short in Volcanic Air is unmatched. Of course in Canada we saw take-off and landing of Seaplanes. But for the first time my wife and I enjoyed seating in Seaplane. This tour was optional and different members of the tour operator Tomas Cook opted differently.
From the office we had to walk through a narrow wooden walkway. It was risky. I advised the official on duty. Management is offering extensive range of scenic helicopter flights and scenic floatplane air tours, but all are expensive.
I am attaching three photos and viewing those you may get better idea, I wish all readers happy tour by helicopter flights and scenic floatplane in Rotoria, New Zealand.

We experienced the Waiheke Wings scenic flight over the islands and even got to spot the America's Cup boats out training. Purchased for our dad's 75th birthday.
The team were so friendly and welcoming and our pilot was fantastic, top commentary and so amazing to fly over iconic Auckland spots.
He was extremely understanding and empathetic when the bumps (normal from air pockets/wind) got a bit too much for my sister and I in the back, immediately taking us out to a smoother area and putting us at ease.
We thouroughly enjoyed our experience and would highly recommend!

Before leaving the Uk we booked a scenic ride in a seaplane through our travel agent. Due to work around the harbour, we were transferred to a landplane. Auckland Seaplanes collected us from our hotel and took us to the airport, where we were met by our pilot.

After a briefing we set off around Auckland. The views were stunning, accompanied by a running commentary from our pilot. After an all too short trip we landed back at Ardmore airport. Again, Auckland Seaplanes took us back into the city, dropping us off at the next attraction we planned o visit.

Everyone we met were very friendly and went out of their way to make our trip a memorable experience. Sincere thanks to Chris (CEO) and Kevin (pilot) for all their efforts. they were very much appreciated by us.

This is easily one of the best activities I've ever done in Auckland, a very professional and helpful team who provide a unique water takeoff and landing experience. Views are fantastic. Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to see how beautiful Auckland and the Hauraki Gulf is from the air. I hope we can keep them here!

We took a seaplane flight from Wynyard Quarter over Rangitoto, the youngest volcano in the Hauraki Gulf. Dan our pilot was amazing, so informative and such a lovely guy. Can highly recommend this trip and I would do again in a heartbeat. Such a highlight to see Auckland from above. The views were incredible.

Flew with Auckland Seaplanes to the nature reserve to see a baby Kiwi that would be released that night. The biologist form the Auckland zoo took us on a guided walk where we watched a feeding of the extremely rare Takahe pair with a new baby. Once thought to be extinct, now a mere 350 remain with several on this special island.

The flight was also fun with Steve, their chief pilot. He is an excellent seaplane captain and very knowledgeable about the area. You'll love flying in their stylish de Havilland Beavers, a rare experience in itself, especially outside of Canada or Alaska!

I was in Auckland for the weekend. It was my first visit, and I was looking for a way to see some of the beautiful surrounds within a very limited timeframe. After some online research, I thought a scenic flight would be the best way to go and, as someone who loves planes, the prospect of experiencing a seaplane was too good to pass.

The plane itself was absolutely beautiful - a 1961 De Havilland DHC-2 Beaver, kept in excellent condition. Having never flown a seaplane I was bracing myself for what I imagined to be a tumbly ride during take-off and landing, but to my surprised it was all really smooth, probably smoother than commercial jets take-off/landing. We were lucky enough to be treated to perfect weather as well.

All the staff members I came across were incredibly friendly and welcoming - including Chris and Steve the pilot. My flight was a version of the "island hopper", and an opportunity to view some of the surroundings (including the nearby volcano) up close. I feel that the price was very reasonable for the experience, and I strongly recommend Auckland Seaplanes, both for the opportunity to experience the beautiful surrounds of Auckland especially if your tiem in the city is limited, and also for the sheer experience of flying a in a truly beautiful DHC-2 seaplane.

What a fantastic way to view not only Auckland, but all the surrounding islands as well. Chris was very accommodating towards our flight mates who wanted to be dropped off at an island for lunch. It says you only get an hour, but we were flying, landing on water, and flying again with a much longer and enjoyable experience. This was one of our activities listed for our honeymoon and truly glad we booked it. It was even fun talking to Chris and our pilot about his planes, where they cam from and background on Auckland. Would highly recommend this flight and company to any of my other friends coming to Auckland for holiday!

My wife and I traveled to New Zealand for our Honeymoon and came across Auckland Seaplanes. Chris and Pilot Michael and Jordan were very accommodating and made sure we had a wonderful time. Highly recommend for anyone who is looking for one of the best views available for the city and surrounding area. Also, appreciating good people taking care of others.

I was just roaming around the Wharf area to have some beer. Suddenly I saw the ad from "Auckland Seaplanes" and hit their office for enquiry. Fortunately, I got the slot for next day. I got some offer too in the price value. Next day I was punctual to reach the venue and found most of my co-rider(s) also reached. After that we had a safety training with them and got introduced to our highly experienced pilot. Pilot explain us all the feature of the seaplane and brief about our plan for the day. He was a nice jolly person.( I am with him these days on FB too). It was my first experience with Seaplane, but from take-off to landing and maneuvering in the mid-air was really fun with all. We have done some island hoping and had our lunch in a wine yard too. I would say from starting to ending all the people(s) are very courtesies and helpful. I do recommend them for other to have such a great experience.
