Hidden Sanctuary
Nov 2020
I've visited this place a couple of times with friends and families. It's a hidden sanctuary where one can relax while roaming around the big gardens. It has a small butterfly garden and amazing views. You can also hire a function room for any occasion you want to celebrate. However, the room is not good for a big number of visitors. You can set up a pop-up slides on the grounds adjacent to the function hall. You also have to clean the party venue and bring all your garbage with you, when you leave.

A lovely quiet place where they only ask for a $3 contribution, bit rough in a wheelchair but we made the best of it.
Beautiful butterflies by the hundred, perhaps a pity there was not a variety of species but still worth a visit.

What a lovely spot. I may be wrong but it's about 30 years since our last visit here where I recall the butterfly house as the memorable part.
This time, a stroll along its many paths, each seemingly named after local contributors, was just as good. Tall trees, shrubs, ferns, not too many flowers though, lined these paths and the delight of the peace & quiet (apart from a chorus of cicadas and the occasional tui) made the gardens a refuge of its own.
Of course the butterflies are great to see too and the overall feel of this place is one of knowing you can relax, think or read among nature.
This is a garden run by volunteers and the $3 admission assists in keeping the place going. Well worth it.

West Lynn gardens is a lovely afternoon trip with a butterfly house and lots of little gardens to explore.
The newly installed function room is great for small family get togethers.

We're all so busy these days and in the city its hard to find peace and quiet but we did here. There are benches around the gardens providing stopping places to admire the plants and vegetation. An easy walk for most and children appeared to love the place too. We were short of time or we would have stayed longer.

A garden ramble

A lovely wander through informal woodland gardens. I had my elderly mum with me and she struggled with the paths. Signposts were not clear though a handy little nap had been provided.

What a lovely surprise to find this garden as I look for spots to take my granddaughter for a walk in her pram. The lady at reception was very welcoming and the gardens are very pretty. No butterflies until end of November which should be spectacular. Nice small garden with loads of variety. Easy walk to push prams - so obviously wheelchair friendly.

It was a lovely sunny day and as a local, it seemed like a good idea to go and visit.

Very good, the gardens are not to large, with lots of seating to stop and enjoy the scenery. A little Fantail followed me for a while. The Butterfly house was full of, well Butterfly's and lots of hungry Caterpillars ready to develope into Crysallis/ Butterflys. There was a small Craft Market on and I was able to get a cuppa tea and a slice of very nice cake.
Spent couple of hours there, after exploring, I sat on a comfortable beach and enjoyed a quiet read.

My wife and I visited West Lynn Garden in April during a short vacation from England. The garden was really beautiful and well maintained. Loved the butterflies. Also on our way out we asked a nice lady who worked there if we could be directed towards the cafeteria. But has this was not available made us a nice cup of tea. Thank you
