Don't miss out this... More

This is an excellent example of life in early Auckland. The buildings are authentic and are very well maintained as are the gardens and surrounds. It is not expensive and there is an excellent cafe at the entrance to the village. Tip if the village website advises dates for a working day get along these days are very educational.

I had personal reasons for wanting to visit the village as my great great great grandfathers cottage is located there. I contacted the staff before I flew to NZ and they were very helpful and welcoming even before I arrived. Once we got there Alan gave us a tour of my grandfathers cottage which I really appreciated. He is a... More

If you are keen on local history this is a nice place to visit as in a park and you can see how people lived as have actors, parking should be fine, if you have time visit the town of Howick as it is one of the oldest towns in Auckland, also has nice beaches close by.

A fantastic place, packed full of information about early settlers and their experiences. Give yourself plenty of time and savour the atmosphere. The volunteers are brilliant and help bring the history of NZ alive. Do go, please!

Was fortunate enough to go as a parent helper on a school trip - was crazy busy with all our kids but the wonderful staff (who looked fab in their costumes) were awesome..... they were friendly, informative and extremely patient. The village was so interesting and beautifully laid out - I'm fully intending to bring my kids for a visit... More

What a fabulous place. You step back in time and get a real feel for how the settlers lived in the 1800's. My husband and I both loved it. Not to be missed

We enjoyed an afternoon visiting the village. We were greeted warmly and then given a 10 minute personal introduction of the history of the historical village. It was interesting to hear about the soldier-settlers and see their homes, churches, schools and businesses. We were there for a about 1.5 hours. Also enjoyed playing with the historical toys. They have 34... More
