Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had an enjoyable time exploring the park and walking around the pond. There were lots of ducks and we also saw some eels. There are nice big trees and paths.

Absolute love the park 😊
10 min bus ride from Auckland CBD . Park houses war museum and winter garden .
Park has so much to offer to both, locals and tourists, regardless of the time of the year. Whether you are a museum and history lover, botanical and animal lover, or prefer activities like walking, running or playing rugby, you will find fun in this massive park.
On-site restaurant also one in museum . Plenty to do . You can spend easily few hours !

I only went in here while the rest of my tour group were at the nearby War Museum. What a surprise. Jam packed with beautiful flowers and plants all very well laid out in stunning displays. I particularly enjoyed the fernery area. Hadn't realised you got so many varieties and they grew to such massive proportions. Since it is a national emblem of NZ it is only right to see this place if you can.
Our bus drive took me back downtown but staff advised there are local buses or you can walk the distance if a nice day.
Definitely recommend it for a visit. Delightful to see such bursts of joyful colour whilst on your travels. Was also not crowded when I was there so very tranquil.

Erected in 2004 Kaitiaka , a sculpture by Fred Graham, in Domain park near the War Memorial Museum, is an imposing sculpture. In Maori lore birds were the first inhabitants of, New Zealand and were regarded as kaitiaki (guardians). Fred Graham’s kaitiake is a hawk. Set in this park, fabulous for a walk around

It was many years since I had been through this area and I found the memorial to our war dead very moving.
