We visited the Motat Museum recently on a trip to Auckland. We were on the red "hop on hop off bus". We spent a few hours here visiting both sections of the Museum, but we could have spent longer viewing the vast range of exhibits...More

Children would be fascinated by the hands on experiences. Loved the tram that took us from one site to the other.

I only had a couple hours to spend so missed out on the tram ride and the other half of the museum. That might have been worth setting aside more time for. What I liked best was the short movies about individual inventors and the...More

Spent a happy half day and could have stayed longer. Easier to park at MOTAT 2 site where the planes are if you drive and use the free tram to visit MOTAT 1.

Great time, a lot of exhibits in both pavillions. We went there on military day, had a fair bit of thematic exhibits on the day, also free ride in armoured vehicles for kids, and RNZAF Black Falcons flyover. Highly recommended for a family day out

I just went on my day off and enjoyed my day. The highlight is the hanger where there are planes like spitfires and a great lancaster bomber. There aren't many cars there unfortunately but the tram section is also really good

Located close to the Western Springs Park, the Museum of Transport and Technology is good for all ages. Combined with the park makes it a day-long fun trip.

I have been here a fair few times. And, it is always an enjoyable day out. The tram ride is always a hit, for young and old. I like how attractions are changed regularly, but some of the old favourite still say the same. Such...More

One of the reasons to visit MOTAT is to see the exhibits of Richard Pearse inventions, including his third aircraft the vertical take-off machine. However many of the exhibits are now hard to see, and this 3rd aircratf was reportedly seriously damaged when contractors moved...More

my advice would to not bother finding a motel specifically near motat, rather look into the best motels in central auckland . it's not very far from the central city
