Beautiful architecture to start with - impressive wooden ceiling boards. Well organised museum with lots of knowledgeable staff. Various exhibitions intermingling, affecting all of your senses. Spend at least 2 to 3 hours here. It's free, anyway.

There's so much going on here - contemporary and cultural. Lindauer's Maori portraits are amazing and a wonderful surprise of opera in the international historic art gallery.
