I would like to recommend Moa Tours, especially our driver/guide Gail Hapi, who was so good, very funny, informative, and most helpful. I am sure all the drivers are carefully selected, as they really make the tour more enjoyable. I have done one Moa tour before, but my friend had never been on one and she couldn't get over how great Gail was guiding our tour. We did Coromandel Caper, and had lovely weather throughout which made a difference too. Such beautiful scenery, beaches, small towns, Pohutukawa trees flowering....it was just perfect! The accommodation is of a very high quality, meals were lovely, and Gail went above and beyond her job making sure we all got our meals, helping with ordering, waiting, drinks, etc. It sure was a full on six days for her and I am sure she deserves her days off! Moa tours are a great way to see our beautiful country without the stress of driving yourself, having it all organized and just sitting back and enjoying it. With only 18 people max, it is a good size to get to know people and have company on the way.

Superb tour with Dermot Hall of MOA Tours around New Zealand
We have just finished a 21 day tour around New Zealand . My wife and I were accompanied on our “ Small Group Tour “by 12 people ,5 couples and 2 singles.
Dermot was our driver , our guide , our “ go to “ person on the whole tour.
The group was made up of Americans , Canadians and British travellers.
We have done many “ small group tours “ over the years to various parts of the world including Thailand, Sri Lanka , USA etc.
Without doubt this was one of the best .
The travellers were all of similar age ( let’s say “mature”) and we all got on very well- that’s not to say we were “ best buddies” but the camaraderie was superb.
We covered almost the length and breadth of New Zealand with Dermot as our driver , guide, problem solver, information provider etc etc . Nothing was too much trouble .
Yes there was a lot of travel but there were many stops and every stop included some kind of experience -maybe a simple walk , maybe witnessing local talent and many other things.
When you book this sort of tour , you do so with the help of your travel agent , you read the brochures , you check out the reviews etc - and then you go !
When on tour a “ good tour on paper” becomes an excellent tour in reality if , generally , the group of people get on , and if you have good guides .
This was a truly brilliant tour and we have absolutely no hesitation on highly recommending it if you want to see New Zealand , have many new experiences ( eg Jet Boating !!) and end each day with big broad smiles at the bar.
MOA organisation and the inclusion of many excellent individual items scored 10 out of 10 with us , without hesitation.

We have toured with Moa before, loved the tours, and have just toured with them again, this time on a garden tour of Taranaki in North Island New Zealand. (The fact that we have chosen to travel with the same company again tells you something). This tour was brilliant. I was surprised at the huge variety of gardens. Formal and informal. Exotic plants and natives. Private gardens, and public gardens. Big and small. Flat and landscaped hills. Every garden was unique and a pleasure. In some cases we were served 'tea' in the gardens as an extra delight. Our accommodation throughout was really good, with the final night in a room right next to the shore of Lake Taupo. All the included meals were very good. Which is one of the reasons we like travelling with this company...it really is inclusive. Not once did I have to put my hand on my wallet, other than to buy wine etc if I wished to go with my meal (but soft drinks, hot drinks etc are all included). But however good the itinerary, however delightful the gardens, the eventual success of a tour depends heavily on the guide. Our guide Peter was excellent. He quickly became accustomed to different people's needs and quirks and acted accordingly. He looked after us all both as individuals and as a group. He kept the pace just right. His commentary on the bus was relevant, very interesting, but delivered in a factual way without the risk of being contentious. It was also laced with gentle humour. He also avoided (as we have had with some companies) the ear bashing from incessant commentary. Like Goldilocks he did not talk too much, nor too little, but just right! Peter is an asset to Moa tours. I recommend anyone considering the idea of a tour in NZ to seriously consider Moa as the groups are not too big. This tour of the gardens was 18 people which I think is a nice size. Peter.

Sean was the most friendly, helpful, considerate and caring driver for our tour. He took time to ensure that all passengers were welcomed onto the bus and their bags were packed and unpacked at each stop. He was extremely knowledgeable about the areas we passed through and could tell us history of the people, settlement, interesting events, flora and fauna of each place. He was very reassuring when we had a problem with our van and made sure we were all delivered safely to our hotel. We had lots of laughs along the way and I would recommend Sean on any tour. Thank you Sean, I loved every moment.

We have just returned from an absolutely wonderful trip with Moa Tours. We did not know what to expect as this was our first group tour but it far exceeded our expectations and in fact we enjoyed it so much we have already booked another tour to a different location. We were met at Auckland airport by two Moa staff members who immediately took care of our luggage and obtained our boarding passes for us, leaving us to just present ourselves at security and then board the plane. What luxury not to have to deal with all this ourselves. Moa’s organisation and attention to detail was evident throughout the trip.
The itinerary provided a wide variety of wonderful South Island scenery from Molesworth Station with its magnificent and dramatic landscape to the seascape of Abel Tasman National Park, the clear sparkling waters of Te Waikoropupu Springs, and later the sands and lighthouse at Farewell Spit. Local tour guides Gavin and Alan deserve a mention for their in-depth knowledge of their particular areas. Accommodation was excellent throughout. Top marks must go to the Scenic Views Motel in Hanmer Springs, where each time we were about to depart or when we arrived back from an outing, we were met by a friendly and helpful staff member. Meals never seemed to be far apart, with an interesting variety of restaurants. Again, Hanmer Springs gets top marks for MK Restaurant where we had an absolutely memorable meal.
Without doubt our tour guide, Ian, made the trip the success it was, shepherding us around with good humour. His driving skills were excellent, and he made sure of everyone’s personal safety throughout, including ensuring people had walking poles if needed for uneven ground. Ian’s seemingly limitless fund of stories illustrated his in-depth knowledge of the South Island as well as being so humorous that he frequently had the whole tour group laughing.
Thank you, Moa, for a wonderful week.

Finished 21day trip to both islands yesterday. In many ways trip exceeded my expectations however coach was dreadful for length of time travelling each day. Coach is more like a shuttle. Kiwi guide Ali was fantastic can’t help thinking that because of roads maybe trip itinerary needs to be reviewed. Too much time in coach/ shuttle bus. Hotels could also be reviewed some were old.

Amazing scenery, stunning sunsets, quirky museums and art galleries, sandy beaches and local residents who are very proud of their ancestors and how they made the island their home. Windy roads expertly navigated by our very patient guide Dermot who has a great knowledge of the island and the people.
Highly recommend Moa Tours for their attention to detail and for looking after their clients.

From the beginning we felt that we where with a great group and Hellen our driver and guide made us feel very welcome .The accommodation was good but would like to have been a bit closer to town in Taupo perfect location in Wellington and Napier. The variety of places that we dined where very interesting and the host was very informative about the building and area. The coach was pretty comfortably but a bit more leg room would have been good especially for those with some mobility problems. Helen was a great driver and we felt safe with her at all times .The Wow show was the highlight of the trip and the seats where two rows back from the stage just perfect I would recommend this trip to anyone who want's a great holiday without the hassles.
