About Auckland Bridge Climb
AJ Hackett Bungy offers exclusive access to the Auckland Harbour Bridge which stretches over the Westhaven Marina. Magnificent views of Auckland can be enjoyed on the Auckland Bridge Climb, an unforgettable adventure that takes climbers under, around, up and over the historic Auckland Harbour Bridge. This suspended span bridge was the last of its kind to be built in the world, comprised of 3000 berths and is the largest in the southern hemisphere. Custom engineered walkways provide a safe, enjoyable and easy-going experience while you listen to full commentary from your tour guide and enjoy the great photo opportunities and view Bungy Jumping up close.

Really enjoyed this very interesting and safe climb. The lady leader (sorry we have forgotten her name in the panic next day of trying to find somewhere to stay safe) was friendly, informative and thoroughly professional. We even got to see a bungee jump close up - this was the nearest we were ever going to get to one !! Would recommend to all ages as a must do whilst in Auckland.

When we checked-in the lady said it would take about 2 to 2/2 hours. It took 4 hours because 2 people in our group opted for the additional Bungy Jump. We had to wait for them (and watch). This is a fun experience and excellent view of the harbor and city. Not as organized and detail oriented as the Sydney Harbor Bridge Climb, but worth doing. 4 Stars for stealing 2 hours of our time.

I booked this in Australia before my trip. I had a couple of questions, & they were answered in real time in a sort of very friendly Kiwi-style chat room. This was a totally cool activity! They suit you up, so you don't get your clothes dirty on the bridge. They have free lockers where you can leave all your stuff so your hands are free. Along the walk we (1 other lady & I; just 2 participants) stopped to learn about the history of the bridge, dangers facing the workmen (3 men lost their lives), the high altitude toilets for the workmen (& saw the plumbing, etc), & the civil engineering involved (originally a 2 lane bridge to save money, then they added 2 more 'clip on' lanes on either side!). We asked lots of questions, like 'What volcano is that?' & our very knowledgeable guide answered everything... like myseterious Rat Island where the prison guards kept watch over the prisoners. A highlight was walking over the arch right close up to the 2 New Zealand flags, admiring the triangle patterned girders. On the way back to the office, we stopped so that I could do a Bungy jump. That was a really fun moment, gazing down at gun metal grey waves before my Titanic style descent. Back in the office we got to check out photos of our climb & my Bungy jump which are for sale. Then we were surprised to receive AJ Hackett paperbags. Inisde there was a Bridge Climb certificate & a really nice Bridge Climb peak hat... & I also got a Bungy certificate & t shirt! The Climb & Bungy included pick up & drop off at Sky Tower. The young lady who guided us, the office ladies, & the Bungy lads were all super nice & friendly. It was so enjoyable! I'd have to rate the experience as a Must Do & score it 11 or 12 out of 10; a real highlight of my visit to Auckland. Back in Australia I've been wearing my Bridge hat & Bungy t shirt & have received many admiring comments!

I wouldn't necessarily call this an adventure activity. The bridge is not very high, so it personally did not trigger my fear of heights. It's also a really easy climb. But you do learn interesting facts about the bridge and it's a unique way to view a city skyline (although my favourite part was looking down at the cars pass underneath us from the top). Overall it is a solid experience and you can get good deals on Bookme.
