Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We have recently returned from this wonderful afternoon tour. We were on a cruise ship and arranged to be picked up at a convenient location in the middle of Auckland. We could tell straight away that the tour guide and driver were not only knowledgeable about New Zealand history, flora and fauna but they were both very passionate about it.
We stopped at a bakery for lunch and were guided up to the rainforest views which were spectacular. Then on to the rainforest walk. We were informed the entire way around the beautiful forest and learnt so much.
We then travelled to the stunning Piha beach with its beautiful soft black sand. After some free time we were greeted with a perfect cup of tea and biscuits.
We travelled through Auckland's suburbs and returned to the city in the afternoon.
We would definitely recommend this tour. It was a wonderful way to see the real New Zealand.

This tour was a good way to see the west coast from Auckland. There was a good amount of time at both the beach and the rainforest walk. The guide was both knowledgeable and friendly. He addressed my wife's back problems by giving her areas to rest while allowing others to enjoy areas she couldn't get to.

If you want a local tour guide, who is fun, energetic, takes pictures, takes you to the best places to eat besides showing the picturesque sites of New Zealand, Terry is your guy. We had a memorable trip with him with a hike to the waterfall, the beach and some picturesque stops along the way. Money well spent.

Was a great day spent with Terry—took us past his old neighborhood (don’t look at the giant spider) up to a cultural center where we got amazing view and pictures. Then brought us to an amazing cafe (make sure you get 2 pies with your coffee—it’s well worth it, and you burn it all off on the walks and hikes anyways). Piha was amazing, you walk the beach and find some great spots where mussels grow and waves come a crashing. The rainforest hike was really great and it can terminates at a waterfall you can swim underneath! Take the extra time to hike above the waterfall for a great view and extra dip. Then we took a walk basically on the edge of the country and you just have amazing views all around. Thank you Terry!

Terry did a fantastic job showing us some beautiful sites west of Auckland. Each short hike was worth the view with some laughs along the way. The pies and coffee made for a great stop for lunch. This tour is a great option to see some landscape outside Auckland if you do not have a car.

This tour was one of the highlights of my 16 days in New Zealand. Terry is an amazing guide--knowledgable, great sense of humor, personalized touch, multiple little extra stories--it is clear he loves his job, makes it his primary objective for us to have a great tour--simply put he is far and away the best guide I recall having. He was so good, I was willing to the same tour the next day with him--but had other plans.

This was by far the best tour I have ever had. Terry is one amazing operator, his knowledge of the local places, iconic things like "Hokey Pokey" ice cream, and L and P soft drink, not to mention the historical detail made my visit here memorable. I have travelled extensively and this tour was worth every cent.Terry is a wonderful host, funny and personable I will definitely come back to NZ and book another one of his tours.

Had a fantastic day on this day trip. We were picked up from hotel in central Auckland and taken to numerous places including Piha beach and rainforest. plenty of time in each place for pictures and taking in the amazing sights. Terry was a fantastic tour guide sharing lots of local knowledge and showing us the best places. He was enthusiastic making the trip very enjoyable. Would highly recommend this trip, the views are unreal. Must be done in Auckland and very reasonably priced.

I will be in Auckland on November 9 staying at the Rydges Auckland Hotel and I am blind. I am interested in taking the Piha Beach and Rainforest Day Tour. Since I am traveling alone, I would need to be picked up and dropped off at my hotel.
I would need guidance getting to and from the bus/van, but otherwise I would be no trouble. Before I sign up online, I would like to make sure you would be willing to allow me to be a part of your tour. I’m sure the narration would be very interesting.
Thank you for your consideration.

my husband and I are arriving around 9:00 am, and are looking for a transfer to the cruise ship pier around noon, with a few of Auckland's city highlights along the way. Who do you suggest we contact for this half day transfer/tour? Thanks!
