I would recommend Stray to anyone, whatever their age, who wants to see countless amazing parts of New Zealand without the hassle of having to drive or find your own accommodation each night. As a solo traveller it was a great way to meet other people and I was really impressed with the accommodation we stayed in, with some, like the YHA at Lake Tekapo, being particularly amazing. Our guide Nat was a constant source of knowledge and was invaluable when it came to offering advice on what activities to do, be it sky diving, hikes, mountain biking, bungee jumping, white water rafting or swimming with dolphins. Nat also kept the show on the road with military precision, meaning not a moment of the tour was wasted. But be warned! After your trip you will get severe withdrawal symptoms from being on the road with amazing people, eating the best pies NZ has to offer and seeing endless stunning scenery roll by as you look forward to your next adventure. Hands down, Stray is the best way experience New Zealand in all its glory. Thank you Nat & the Stray team!

I'll keep it short and simple, absolutely 100% would not use this service again! The amount of money I'm losing on this trip because when every other company is offering money back due to the unprecedented times and changing their rules while strays excuse is, the rules are the rules and what you signed up to, we could not forsee this coming making out like the consumer could. I would extend that I thought drivers motors and skippy were very good and thor was up for a good time. The app was very poor and changig anything if you need more time is more stressful than just plain paying a bit more to hire a car and doing it yourself. Due to my trip being cancelled for both far north and from queenstown....which it was also failed to mention to me from the company I purchased a 10 days Intercity Pass for travel through to Christchurch and had the time I had been longer and not the rush to get back, there was already a feeling off of two journeys of it being a better choice. I might be hop on hop off but as soon as you do it's forever a bus hunt for the next leaving day. You go to some decent stops in between, maybe more so on the north island but I'd highly recommend for anyone who does choose this, choose only for the north but if you have the money just do it yourself and make a stop at Lake Aniwhenua as well on the way.

Hi Gary, Thank you for leaving us your feedback. All passes that were interrupted due to New Zealand being forced into lockdown have been extended for two years and can be used anytime until March 2022. You can also swap your pass for credit. As you travelled more than 25% of your pass, you’re eligible for pro-rata credit which can be used towards the value of any other Stray pass, in any other region in which we operate! Thank you for feedback regarding our App, this is a new feature for us and we're working on developing it so that it makes our passengers' lives as easy as possible! I am so glad to hear you enjoyed your time with our drivers before the pandemic struck, and I'll be sure to pass your positive words along to them.

Had a great time doing the Essentials + Far South pass with Mozzie as my driver for most of it, he made sure everyone had a good time. We went on a kiwi hunt, drank beers, had Mozzie burgers (three times), went on a bar crawl (two times) and lots more. I definitely recommend the hop on/hop off pass. The only thing that can be improved is the app, as it is quite slow and is frustrating to use on android as you have to scroll a long way when you're getting towards the end of your trip. However once you understand how the app works, it is really convenient for booking accommodation and activities all in one place. It means you don't need to hand over cash to hostels and for activities, it is paid in advance. Thanks Mozzie and Stray!

Hi Lee, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review. It sounds like you had an awesome time with Mozzie and it's great to hear his famous 'Mozzie Burgers' are still living up to the hype! I am so glad you found the app convenient, I have noted down your comment regarding the scrolling and have sent it to our App development team so that we can pop it on the list of future improvements to be made. I'll be sure to pass along your great feedback to Mozzie and the whole team. Thanks again, Rachael

what four weeks here in New Zealand. it was one of my best times in my life. i got to know a beautiful country with incredibly lovely people and made friends. With Stray I could make all my dreams come true and thank everyone who has made this time unforgettable for me in the past few weeks. The drivers SOXX, Mozzie, Pacman did everything for us to make the trip one of the best ever ... I am 39 and met sooo many good people on this trip and was glad that some were over 30. Thanks to everyone ..take care and I hope that stray continues after the coronavirus circles ..

I just finished my trip with Stray that I took along the South Island of New Zealand on their Big South Freestyle Pass. I have already travelled with them in Laos, Myanmar and Australia and due to my positive experiences that I already had with this company I decided to hop on the Stray Bus again for an epic adventure through New Zealand's beautiful South Island. One concept that I like most about the Stray tours is the hop-on hop-off option that gives the ultimate freedom to stay longer at a stop if desired and travel at one’s own pace, yet having all the benefits of an organized group tour. I usually like to travel independently, however I was a bit intimidated driving in New Zealand by myself, therefore was really happy that this was taken off me and I could simply relax and enjoy the views in the Stray bus and and have the stress of driving taken off me. The drivers that took me around the South Island (Cookie, Rolex and Shorty) were all amazing. Friendly, passionate about their job sharing insider information with us and spreading good vibes. The itinerary of the Big South Island Freestyle Pass is very optimized and perfect if you want to see everything in a short amount of time (however I would recommend hoping off in Abel Tasman, Wanaka and Queenstown and staying a bit longer if you have the time). I really enjoyed my trip and meeting awesome people from all over the world and of course discovering this beautiful country with Stray. Definitely thumps up! Can recommend.

Hi Katrin, Thank you for taking the time to leave us this great review. Helping people like yourself to have a stress-free 'no worries' trip is what we're all about, and it's really wonderful to see we were able to show you around not only NZ, but Asia and Australia too! I'll be sure to pass on your feedback to Cookie, Rolex and Shorty who I know will be thrilled to hear you thought they were amazing. Stay safe - and we hope to meet again soon!
