John was superb! So much knowledge and an active trip. He made history, culture and flora and fauna come alive. A true adventure!

We had the most amazing week on our Wild Kiwi Tour the Northern Explorer! Deeanne our guide was fun, friendly, welcoming and helpful! The bus was comfortable and the sound system was excellent for our group playlist 😂. We met amazing like minded people and trialled new activities that we probably wouldn't have done without the support of our crew and guide! Seriously could not recommend Wild Kiwis more!

I did the 2 week Big South Tour in New Zealand and loved it! My favourite was the first week where we did Lake Tekapo, Queenstown, Franz Josef etc. That week was filled with so many fun activities! The second week was still enjoyable but not what I expected. It was very relaxed, mostly filled with driving in the vans and stopping at little scenic spots and doing walks which wasn’t explained on the website. I felt like my money was a bit wasted. What I would recommend is to do the 1 week South Island and 1 week North island. The communication of the tour company wasn’t very good, I wish I had been given more information before the trip but the communication of the guides once we were on the trip was good. Most of the accomodation was okay, just think of dormitory camping style.
For the included dinners the company could have spent a bit more and chosen places with a wider selection-they were definitely a bit stingy and chose a cheap place.
The transport was good in a van, they even had wifi on board which I wasn’t expecting! But beware if you get travel sick sit at the front because there are lots of windy roads on this trip!
The tour guides were great! I had Robbie, Dee and Claud who were all lovely. Dee really cracked me up and was great to chat with. The only thing is I wished the guides were more connected with the group and hung out with us a bit more and tried to get the group to know each other through fun games and challenges. I know the tour guides have lots of their own work to do in their free time but making a conscious effort to do more things with the group would be a plus. In general the trip was very fun and loved New Zealand!

Wild Kiwi puts on an incredible experience if you are looking to fit a lot into a short time. It was packed with activities and adventures, absolutely beautiful places to see, and unforgettable memories. The NZ Explorer tour gives you a taste of both islands. Guides Ben and Claudia were both excellent, fun, kind, knowledgeable, and helped us have the best experience possible.

We had a great time on this tour, as a couple on their honeymoon who don't usually do things like this! We were in NZ for a month and wanted to do some of the more adventurous activities and rugged landscapes with a bit of support - in case the weather went against us, for example!

What we got was excellent. A really nice welcome on Day 1 and a great tour guide in Clauds. We ticked off all the things on the itinerary and were with a great mix of people that made the tour really fun. The accommodations we stayed in were very solid (for people that don't have hostel experience we couldn't complain!) and the plan was laid out really clearly and well communicated by Clauds. We signed up for a bunch of great activities. Our disappointment was that the road was closed to Milford Sound, but this was exactly why we went with a tour like this - Claud tried to flip the plans a day to give us another chance, and then came up with a really good backup plan, the likes of which we wouldn't have been able to come up with easily ourselves.

Really great experience, would love to do it again!

I have just finished the NZ Explorer 14 day tour, and it was one of the best holidays I’ve ever had! The tour guides (Ben, Robbie and Dee) were all excellent — funny, informative, helpful, I could go on!! They are excellent at booking (and rearranging if the weather is rubbish) activities throughout the two weeks; I did a skydive, bungy jump, went to hobbiton, and a fair few more! I travelled solo, which wasn’t an issue as the people on my tour were great; truly have met friends for life! The hostels you stay at are okay, probably the only downside of the trip was that a few of the hostels were quite small. Overall, I wouldn’t hesitate to book another trip with Wild Kiwi — it was so easy, took so little planning and was so much fun :)

I did the 7 days Southern Voyager in winter with Claudia in August 2023. The group was composed students in tertiary studies and working young adults.

Schedule and things to do: Even we had a fixed schedule for where we are going, we had a lot of choices of what to do in different difficulties and different price ranges. There are a lot of small scenic and walking spots during long rides, there as never been a boring day during a long day on the van.

If you are travelling in winter, be prepared that things might get cancelled because of weather (Definitely not the guide's fault!!) . Claudia was very accommodating and helped us to book an alternative within minutes

Food and Accomodation: There was a versatile range of breakfast ingredients so we were very well fed. During the drives between destination, tehre were a lot of different quality lunch and snack spots as well.

Transport: The van was well equipped with air-con, USB charging port and sound system. Don't worry about having a phone on low battery after a long day of driving or van too cold/hot.

I did the NZ Discovery tour and loved every single minute of it! Robbie, Ben and Claudia were amazing guides who made the tour outstanding. The itinerary is perfect if you want to see a lot during the three weeks. The small stops on our way broke up the long distances. Moreover, I absolutely enjoyed the people I travelled with and due to the small group size you could really get to know each other. Thank you for an amazing time!
