Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I had a private tour on my first day in Auckland--and that set me up for a perfect week exploring on my own and getting to know this fascinating city. Liz was my guide. She clearly knows Auckland very well, but also knows how to tailor her tour to specific clients' interests. At the end of our very enjoyable 3+ hours together, she gave me a one-page handout outlining the route we had covered (so I could easily get back to further explore places she had pointed out) and listing specific restaurants, museums and other places of interest. This tour with Liz was definitely a highlight of my time in Auckland. I highly recommend the Aucky Walky Tours to any new visitor to Auckland.

The Aucky Walky experience was chocked full of information. Even though I lived in Auckland in the past, I learned new things and discovered places I never knew existed. The best part of the tour was our guide, Liz Lyon. She was pleasant and informative. I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Auckland (and, also, residents who want to know their city better.

Thanks Robert of Remuera for posting a review! It was our pleasure showing your group of visiting academics around central Auckland. We hope it helped you find your feet and that you enjoyed the city we grew up in. Wishing you safe travels.

Perfect way to discover Auckland at the start of a holiday. Liz and her trainee Nina were so friendly, knowledgeable, interesting and obviously proud of their great city. They showed us around the lesser known areas of the city, places to shop, eat, view art etc. and whilst the whole tour was on foot, it felt very easy and the time flew. I’d highly recommend it - we’ve come away with a better appreciation of the city, its history and now have some great ideas about what to do for the 3 days we are here!

We thoroughly enjoyed Liz and her 3 hour Aucky Walky Food Tour. Liz was fun and engaging and provided us with an authentic intro to the Auckland food scene. We very likely would not have experienced the restaurant, pub and local food shops she selected for our tour. She was also very generous in sharing her knowledge on everything Auckland & New Zealand. We also appreciated Liz’ commitment to keeping her tours small making it an intimate experience (our group of 4 plus 3 other travellers). Highly recommend!!

Liz (the owner) took us on the Taste Auckland walking tour. We visited four places and enjoyed them all. She did a great job integrating our "mixed group" and engaging everyone in conversation. She also told us about the food industry in New Zealand, and the economics. It was a fun and informative afternoon. Tour was from 2:30 to 5:30, and we did not eat dinner that night because we had o much food. She also followed up with some restaurant suggestions in other towns we were going to be visiting, which was so gracious of her.

So glad we filled you to the brim J and that our restaurant recommendations, not only in Auckland, proved useful for your travels down south. Thanks for joining our moving feast (on foot) and for posting such a lovely review.

I booked a small group walking tour of Auckland with Liz ,the founder of Aucky Walky, and Debbie, her associate, rather than book a shore excursion with the cruiseline. It was a most enjoyable 3 hour walk (including a break in a 1930's restored hotel). We covered an area from the Port to Auckland Town Hall and we learned a lot about the area and visited spots I would never find on my own. Both Liz and Debbie know the city and directed us to places to eat and shop when the tour ended. I highly recommend this tour. It ranks as one of the best walking tours I have booked in my travels

We had the absolute treasure of doing a private walking tour of Auckland with Liz to kick off our COVID delayed honeymoon! We had reached out a couple weeks ahead of time, and due to technical errors missed Liz's prompt response. Nevertheless, Liz was amazing and was able to meet our request AND ON HER BIRTHDAY! You know Liz really loves what she does when she gives up some of her special day to walk you around Auckland.

We had such a blast learning about the history of Auckland and New Zealand. Liz was beyond knowledgable and we just soaked in every tidbit of information we could. I loved that Liz found us treats we both enjoyed, made adjustments to the tour based on what we shared with her, and really just made us feel special. Liz was also great at accommodating my physical abilities and my porcelain skin, (thanks for the sunscreen!) We genuinely felt like we were walking around town with a close friend.

After our tour, we connected with some of Liz's recommendations and were just as happy with those as we were with our tour. If you are ever in Auckland, I highly recommend Aucky Walky. You will walk away with excellent recommendations, a great understanding of the area, and a smile on your face.

Liz, thank you for your incredible hospitality! We hope to be back someday to do the food tour with you!

Hey you two, hope you enjoyed your NZ honeymoon. What a lovely and insightful review - it was our pleasure showing you both around on your 'When in Auckland' private tour. It's an honor to host first-time visitors on their first day or two in NZ. Even on a guide's birthday lol. We look forward to your return visit as there's just so much great stuff to see, eat and do in our hometown. Take care and enjoy married life. Cheers, L x

Liz is a passionate ambassador for Auckland and fits some fun (and tasty) places to visit into her tour. Mixing history, architecture, eating, shopping, and cultural attractions; this guided walk has to be a must for any first time visitor to Auckland. The tour is well planned and Liz is an enthusiastic and lovely host. She is so welcoming that she has even gone out of her way to send us some restaurant recommendations for our wider travels in New Zealand.

Loved it! Would not have known to go to many spots on the tour and also learn about the city’s history - 1st street, 1st hotel, etc. I also have to say our guide Joe was fantastic! Loved her storytelling, humor and energy!

Yes Joe is a legendary guide and loves sharing the hidden corners of her hometown as a 4th generation Aucklander. You can really get under the skin of a city if you walk it in a small-group with a passionate story teller. Thanks J for posting and hope you're traveling well.

Discovering Aucklands unique city in 3 1/2 hour walking tour with Joe was a MUST DO. The tour provides recommendations of eateries, artists, parks, galleries, hopping on city buses, stopping in cute quaint chocolate shops and tasting foods of the Australian culture. Highly recommend this wonderful tour. We booked everything through First Light Travel located in Auckland.

A Must do, wow! Thank you for your glowing review, will pass onto Joe (smiley face emoji). A small-group guided walk is really the best way to find your feet on arrival. Especially with all the current construction downtown. As we say, there's no better way to kickstart an Auckland stay. Enjoy NZ!
