I came here with a few friends and had a lot of fun. The puzzles were so challenging! I loved the whole experience.

We did prisoners of the dark night being first timers as we didnt know what to expect. Be warned too many brains in the room make this an overwhelming experience 😂😂 I ended up letting the kids figure it out themselves ... i went into the room with a team of 8 and finished the exercise with 10min on the clock to spare. I would highly recommend booking 2rooms for a better experience, 1hr goes by so quickly and your left wanting to do another.

We went as 7 person group. No space to discuss clues. Tight space. Recommend 3 or 4 person group max. Two important clues were very flimsy. They need to be fixed up. For example, the audio of clues. You dont want to be wasting time listening to badly recorded audio. Nothing interesting or challenging about that. Some clues have to be improved. Felt some clues were random. Even the host said dont do that. But few other clues were interesting.

As a frequent Escape Room player who loves challenging puzzles, i was stoked to see Dream Constructor on the Urban List and has made plans to visit with my fellow Escape Room mates. Having quite high hopes due to the (fake) star ratings on the internet, i was quite let down when i got to the venue.

First impression, the place was dodgy as - it was in a residential area with no proper signage. Well, one shouldn't judge a book by its cover and we decided to give it a try anyway, in hope that the puzzles were challenging enough to cover up the let down thus far.

We were greeted by a trainee host who explained the gist of the story line and was brought to the rooms. We were handed a battery oriented candle and was told that that would be our only source of light throughout the game. I have now read the reviews of previous player and the host has replied that his "escape room is very challenging and needs a lot of logical thinking and paying attention to detail". I find that quite on point - i was definitely visually challenged in the dark. How do you expect us to pay attention to details when you can't even see properly in the first place?!

It was also annoying when the trainee gives you a reminder every 15 minutes on your remaining time on the game, especially when you are trying your best to "pay attention to details" to solve those "challenging" puzzles, sure, a little stress will definitely improve the experience of the game play.

What pissed me off the most wass that, when our hour was up, the trainee asked us over the walkie talkie if we would like to extend our time for 30 minutes - which will cost us NZD9 per person. We turned down the offer and the trainee came in with another lady host to show us the answer to the puzzle we were working on.

On our way out to the reception, the lady host told us that we should have considered to extend our time as some players who had done so was able to get out within the extended time. The lady host also emphasized that it was a hard room and that she herself has taken 2 hours to get out.

My question here would be, for a room which people has taken an average of 1.5 hours - 2 hours to complete, but you have charged an average of NZD33 per pax for an hour, AND THEN "offer" an extension of 30 minutes for NZD9 per pax, this sounds like an extortion to me. Apart from that, we were told at the beginning of the game, we were only only granted 3 clues but on our way out, the lady host told us that they would have provided us with clues if we have asked for them - with no limit. So why tell us that we were only entitled to 3 clues at the beginning of the game then?!

Overall, it was a very disappointing experience and i will definitely NOT visit again.

This room is SO bad it’s almost worth visiting just for the experience. But don’t. It’s really terrible. The room is in someone’s rather dirty and depressing house, which is weird more than quirky. The story-line makes no sense. You are given an electric candle to look for clues because the rooms are dark - I suspect to hide the run down / low budget set up rather than for atmosphere. The clues are supposedly hard. It’s not that they are hard, they are just annoyingly obscure. Many of the props are broken and a lot of the mechanical elements don’t work at all. On a couple of occasions we didn’t know if we’d done something wrong, or if the thing we were trying to use was faulty. Because of the appalling clues and the broken equipment we ran out of time. Stupidly we took the offer to pay extra for more time. What we should have done was take the opportunity to escape rather than waste more time and feel more irritated and ripped off. The best way to escape from this room is not to get into it in the first place. It’s a shame you can’t give No Stars, because that’s what Dream Constructor deserves.

Mechanical puzzles didn't always work (esp the voice activated ones). The escape room is in a residential house, down a dark driveway with little street signage and a distinct pet smell at the entrance. Not the most sophisticated we've been to and I'm not sure if I'd go again.

We went on my birthday and I was charged more than the price that was online. There was no information in the rooms with what to do with the items found or in any of the rooms. The story had no point and the ending did not make sense.
When we were offered to pay for extra time we were told it is $9 for extra time and 3 clues. It was only after we finished 5 mins after that we were told that it was per person and that we had been mislead. The man did not appologize and charged us anyway.

We went in a group of 7 and it was so much fun!! The mechanical ones are always better but it is more challenging as it requires quite a lot thinking outside of the box but we managed to get out in 1hr 5min! The escape also had a really good storyline through out the journey which made it really entertaining. However the owner could definitely improve by, first of all, have a much better/bigger sign on the road - you feel like you’re visiting a tinny house when driving down. It would also be good if the messages were voiced by an English speaker with no accent. But overall, it was 11/10 entertainment and we’re looking forward to the new one!!

I went to this escape room with a group of 4 of us. The young man that greeted us was very friendly. The escape room itself was definitely very challenging and involved thinking outside of the box. I liked that this was not just a simple padlock combination game and instead had many clever contraptions that needed to be triggered to move on to the next puzzle. It was obvious that there was a lot of thought put into the puzzles and the storyline. The reasons I have not given it a 5 star review are as follows:
1. Some of the puzzles (one in particular) seem almost impossible to figure out without a hint. Luckily, you are given three hints to use whenever you want, otherwise I think we would still be stuck in there right now.
2. It will cost you more per 30mins extra that you require to escape. Considering what I previously said about some puzzles being almost impossible, it seems unfair to charge more if you are not intruding on the next escape teams time.
Despite this, it was an enjoyable experience. :)

Don't fall for all the good reviews, they can't be real :-D But all in all it is an apartment where "someone" built an escape room ... Not much decoration as it was dark, I guess for the better but for self build not that bad and I have played 30 or more rooms so far

Don't really know what to say as I have never seen something like this before ... the 5 starts reviews seem bought but we still had fun and a story to tell afterwards
