Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are a few access points to the lake but I was at Sylvan park since I was trying out windsurfing. The lake is quite large and does have a few birds on it. It was nice walking around the park along the lake since it had a nice view. There were also a few benches so it was a nice place to just sit and watch the people and animals on the lake.

Now the pump house which used to supply the north end with water is used as a theater. The lake is very deep and used for training dives by the New Zealand Navy. Lots of black swan live here. Beautiful park.

Whilst staying in Takapuna we drove right around this little lake, exploring down all the side roads. Found lots of lovely vistas and parks. How lucky Takapuna residents are to have this lovely peaceful little lake, with parks and shaded areas, as well as the ocean right on their door steps!

I like Lake Pupuke, it is a good spot to watch the birds! Also great if you are a photographer and want to get some good shots of the birdlife. I really liked the Pekin and Muscovy ducks but sadly the Pekin ducks have passed way and I do not know what happened to the Muscovies. I really hope they come back! It is a great place to visit on a sunny day.

Take 'Lake Road' north from Takapuna central and you will arrive at Takapuna Pool and Leisure Centre, then the Pumphouse theatre and finally Lake Pupuke, where there is a lovely park area. This is just a 10 minute walk.
People are just enjoying the sun, picnicking or enjoying themselves on the lake.
There are black swans, geese and ducks.
Very tranquil.

The grassy grounds on Lake Pupuke is a nice place to have a picnic. We had the place to ourselves on a breezy and relaxing afternoon. We had a bunch of ducks, geese and some black swans for company. The life of these birds is enviable. They fed on the grass and acted as virtual lawn mowers. After feeding, they would do a few laps on the lake, then chill on the grass after they got their exercise.
This is a good place to do nothing and just simply relax. It is one bus ride and a few minutes’ walk from the CBD.

So much to do around Lake Pupuke! My first visit was for a lakeside walk through Sylvan Park on the north side. The second to The Pumphouse Theatre in Killarney Park on the south side. Today as a break from a hospital visit I went to Quarry Lake, immediately next to the main lake on the west side, where there are opportunies for many water sports from radio controlled boats to kayaking to free diving in what were even after very heavy rain clear waters.
