Perth's favourite playground, the Swan River is a stunning waterway which winds its way from the Darling Scarp to Fremantle. This natural attraction is popular location for Perth locals and visitors to enjoy a day out boating, fishing, skiing, paddling, swimming, picnicking or simply enjoying its vista.Rich in environmental and cultural values, the Swan River was named Derbal Yerrigan by the local Aboriginals who believe that the river was created by the rainbow serpent ‘Waugal’, a dreamtime spirit taking the form of a giant snake. It is believed that the Waugal created creeks, waterholes, lakes and valleys on its journey to the ocean.

This is a great way to view the waterside of Perth/Fremantle. The narration provided great insight into the history of the region. The river is active with regattas, kayakers and others enjoying the calm waters. The cruise boat was comfortable with inside and outside seating.

The person giving the talk about the culture and people living on the river was exceptionally knowledgeable and made for an interesting boat ride.

If you already have touristed throughout the streets of Perth but want Another experience. Buy a ferry ticket and hop on. The beautiful skyline of the city is truly breathtaking. Feel the breeze from the ocean and enjoy.
