I came here with my partner and we were both impressed with the scale of the venue and how much we enjoyed it. Some interesting areas of the Gallery, and some interesting art, however I would recommend allocating a couple of hours for this visit.

We enjoyed all the NGV’s buildings, and it was hard to pick a favorite. The special exhibits on tableware and design on the NGV International, and the aboriginal historical exhibit in the NGV off Federation Square were particularly noteworthy. Australia’s art collections reflect its history,...More

Just cool. Loved the exhibition. Bit pricey tho I thought. Loved the Frida Kahlo, the Warhol, and the melting fan. Can't remember the artist but 'Gone' about American slaves with a play on 'Gone with the Wind' was super clever.

Sure it was great to see some great original pieces but the whole place just screams depression, the staff just stand there bored out of their brains in suits. We asked a couple of them where certain pieces were and a few other questions. None...More

Yes, lots of interesting stuff - kids could get quite a lot out of it, if we spend time talking to them about the art. I'll be taking my 5 yr old as soon as I can. Have a great time!
