A visitor to the National Gallery of Victoria needs to decide which of the two collections to visit. The original NGV on St Kilda Road (just a stroll across the river from the new one in Federation Square), containes the International Collection, and usually includes...More

We always come back to this gallery as there is such a good and varied collection. We did not have time to see the special exhibition this time.

We visited on a Saturday but left shortly after being asked to check in our (very small) backpacks. Many people were happily walking round with much larger over the shoulder bags, which is apparently acceptable. When we pointed this out, the ‘guard’ told us we...More

Great modern art gallery in the centre of Melbourne. Especially good displays of oriental art and porcelain, but many other things to see. Really well laid out. Cafe and Shop. Free entry except special events. Worth going.

Visit to NGV in Melbourne was outstanding as the exhibits was refreshed and eye opening. Static display was shown with appropriate explanation which was apt to the display. There was a large variety of themes.

This exhibition at the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is on until 7 April, 2019, so get in soon if you’re in Melbourne, Aus. It’s very popular so early in the day may be best. The many (150) works of Escher, and those of the...More

We spent a few hours wandering around this lovely museum. Well laid out and very interesting. Good places to eat inside the museum. The tram stops outside the museum, so very convenient.

Beats Canberra's Art gallery by a million miles. This Art Gallery displays art in an original, respectful but also informative way. Its art works are often changing and you need numerous visits to take it all in. Free entertainment does not come better than this.

Yes, lots of interesting stuff - kids could get quite a lot out of it, if we spend time talking to them about the art. I'll be taking my 5 yr old as soon as I can. Have a great time!
