Overview
More
Enterprize is a traditionally constructed replica of a Hobart-built 1830s coastal trading ship. Built to the original ship’s dimensions, primarily with recycled timber held with copper fastenings, rigged with tarred hempen cordage and finished out with traditional flax canvas sails, she was built close to her 1830s namesake while complying with modern maritime safety regulations. Belowdecks berthing and comfort were included to accommodate passengers instead of the original ship’s purpose of carrying cargo. Built over 6½ years by mostly volunteers and launched in 1997, Enterprize offers her unique experience to Melburnians, Victorians... everyone with an adventurous spirit. The ship operates from late November through April from her Docklands home and numerous ports in Port Phillip, and on occasions along the south coast of Australia. Enterprize’s programs includes public sailing events, offshore ocean voyages, school education and experience programs, sail training voyages and the ship is also available for private charters.

We took the one hour cruise from Williamstown Pier. The vessel is crewed by volunteers who are friendly, dedicated and knowledgeable about the ship and early Melbourne. I'd happily recommend this activity.

Enjoyed a very relaxing day on board the Enterprize sailing from Williamstown to the Geelong Festival of sails. The sail was from 8.00am to 5.00pm. (Although there are shorter of longer sails available, even over a few days) The volunteer crew were great, particularly one...More

You see Tall ships on TV, but being on one and seeing the low tech side was eye opening. Climbing the rigging was exciting and helping raise the sails hard work. So much fun.
