I have spent a total of 10 weeks house-sitting around the Taroona end of Sandy Bay. It provided a great area to chill and walk the dog and enjoy some coffees. Good walking along the beaches, a couple of off lead park areas, and a...More

Lower Sandy Bay beach is a lovely place for all ages. There is a wonderful fenced playground along the foreshore promenade, there are covered BBQ areas and a wonderful walking area around the point, plus several coffee shops and restaurants.

Nicely laid out suburb with views along the river. Mainly higher-end shopping for ladies with little of interest for tourists.

We stayed in Wrest Point, but this area is lovely, great for walking especially. The area has small cafes and shops to get the few bits and bobs. The main town centre is a short 10min drive away. Local buses stop in these parts too.

We spent some time in the Sandy Bay precinct. Many small shops and a Woolworths supermarket. Lots of traffic and many interesting old homes in narrow hilly streets to observe. Worth a look when in Hobart.

Walk along the pathway next to the waterfront. Sit on a bench and just enjoy the the serenity. Amazing peacefulness.
