A quiet and spacious neighborhood, each house has its own characteristics and aesthetic design. Walking in this neighborhood is a very pleasant experience.

Sandy Bay enjoys beautiful large historic homes with magnificent water side views where many of the rich early settlers are likely to have lived. It is only a 20min walk to Salamanca market/art galleries, docklands and city centre.

I liked the beach near the Sandy Bay. There were several boats enjoying their ride. We could see the town and mountains quite clearly. This was a great hike and we enjoyed it. Wortwhile to see!

Sandy Bay is a great location to stay in Hobart. Close to Salamanca Market, Westpoint Casino & good resturants. Reccomend Vina Cafe opposite Coles for delicious noodles. Nice Thai resturant in same strip.

We travelled to Sandy Bay on our Hop On Hop Off bus tour yesterday, and one of it's prominent landmarks is the famous Wrest Point Casino. This was apparently the first legal casino in Australia.

We had time to spare so we walked around the Sandy Bay area. There are some really quaint and interesting homes in the area. We were so taken with interest that we walked all of the way back to North Hobart.

You can see what you need to see from the Hop On Hop Off bus. The harbor is filled with beautiful sailboats, and if you like boats, an hour will be well spent.

Its a good place to live in for a few days. But its not worth going to too much trouble for. Nothing much to see.
