About
An Underground church named after the Catacombs in Rome. A place of serenity where week by week we tell others the great news that Jesus still forgives sin for those who seek him.

Well worth a visit. Quite a modest building (excavation!) but very well done. Based in to catacombs of Rome which explains the more modest approach to the other underground churches in CP.

Interesting

Although not to my taste "theologically", a visit to the Catacomb Church In Coober Pedy is an excellent way in which to see how residents of this opal town have adapted to their environment, not just for living. the church is an example of adaptation in a harsh climate.

First underground church we saw in Coober Pedy, it is extremely peaceful inside and has a great atmosphere. Would definitely check it out when you are here, sadly we missed the Sunday service but hopefully next time!

When you visit please turn off the light behind you when you leave.

Worth visiting if you have time

After viewing the other 2 churchs we went here. Was a bit disappointing in the fact that it was very plain compared to the others. There is only the one room. We were not there long.

What A Blessing
Dec 2020 • Couples
In the middle of all this chaos and craziness, here is this little ray of hope church which is quaint and stunningly beautiful. I sat for quite some time reflecting on how many miners must have worked their heart out to find their hope and then came here to realise their hope is in the church. So beautifully maintained and open to everyone, which a church should be. Even if you are not religiously inclined, it it well worth a visit. Please turn off the lights when you leave, but leave the light on in your heart after visiting.

Small but worth a visit

It's a very small place and it unlikely you will spend more than a few minus in the church, but it's definitely worth a visit when in Coober Pedy

Very quick visit
Jul 2020 • Family
We stopped by thinking the church would be interesting however it was very basic and no different to other underground venues in the area. Worth a visit if you want to attend a church service or similar but that’s about it.

with various religions represented in Coober Pedy, the individuals certainly must have put a lot into there faith in this desolate place! open 24/7 we listened whilst a small service was being conducted

UNDERGROUND CHUURCH WITH A DIFFERENCE
Nov 2019 • Couples
This church is free to enter but they appreciate donations. The alter is very different, an old miners winch and a cross made from mulga wood. Worth popping in and seeing.
