Everything about the Ghan journey was wonderful. Live music at the station. Champagne reception. Incredible food, wine and service on the train. Great off-train excursions. Go ahead and do it.

Hi, Size of luggage doesn't seem to be an issue. I understand that we could have chosen to have our luggage with us.
