Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great walks on Long Island - plenty of wildlife! Walk to Happy Bay and then do the loop. Walk to Sandy Bay!

Excellent bush walking trails to some very beautiful and private bays for a swim, trails are well marked with directions and distances. From a safety perspective Palm Bay resort have a great system where you enter your departure time and direction in a book at reception to ensure all guests return safely.

We visited Pam Bay Resort so I did a different walking track each day.
On Day 1 I walked to Sandy Bay. The path was clear of debris from Cyclone Debbie. In the past 6 months there has been only a tiny amount of rain but in the last week it had about 300mm of rain which meant a couple of trees over the track that had yet to be cleared, plus loose Gibber rocks on the track in places from the fractured soils, but good overall. This track is medium intensity with moderate slopes.

On Day 2 I hiked from Palm Bay to Happy Bay to the deserted Club Croc resort. The path was gentle and in great condition, except for the last 200 metres above Happy Bay. Well signposted.

Plenty of wildlife - Wallabies, Goannas, Scrub turkey, butcher birds, local pigeons and a huge cane toad

Pretty, easy going walks in secluded areas with coastal views. Park in good condition (i. e. no weeds in vegetation) due to seclusion. While the deserted beaches are tempting - don't swim without protective suit during summer season due to box jellyfish/irukandji risk.

We hiked here from our hotel and it was beautiful. There was no one else around and you felt like you were in the middle of nowhere with nothing but beauty around you.

Highly recommend visiting if you are a lover of nature. Would occasionally see wallabies, different birds, brush turkey, and in the shallow waters some turtles.

This little island has some beautiful trails with nice views that lead to different beaches. The butterflies accompany you along the way!

We went to Palm Bay Resort on Long Island and explored the north and the south of the island. It’s really beautiful you‘ll get to see a lot of wild animals if you’re lucky

Some paths are still not properly accessible since cyclone debbi but that just makes it a bit more advanturous ;)

We did 3 separate hikes in the NP on Long Island. Really enjoyed the terrain, views and abundant wildlife. Especially the butterflies! We also saw whales from the hike!

We were directed to stay at the Hotel overnight by our boat charter company, Cumberland only to find that the resort was abandoned 5 or so years ago and apart from mooring there and meeting the caretaker "Johnny', it is a place to steer clear from.
