Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Maybe the Great Walk would show the best side of it. Otherwise you have to love tearing along the beach, queueing up on the sandy paths, driving through campgrounds, driving over every surface you can find, and doing it all while 100 other people are doing the same thing around you. The staff said weekdays in March are the quietest days of the year and it was still overcrowded. The lakes and forests are beautiful but the only place I really enjoyed was north of Waddy Point (tried going past Ngkala Rocks but the boggings and queues were ridiculous), where the beaches and dunes shine in the relative solitude and there are no cars on the beach at high tide (unlike the southern beaches, which never get quiet), and even the dingos are friendlier.

Visited last month, so much to see and do on the Island. It is an island of contrasts from rainforest to sandy beaches, all different and with their unique character. Well worth making this somewhere special to visit.

An amazing experience to visit the worlds largest sand island with so much history. Great locations to visit. We did a tour for our first visit and will be back.

Make sure you follow the tracks and gain enough speed before hitting the soft, dry sand. This is the place where many people get stuck. Plan your arrival where the tide is low, so that you accelerate perpendicular to the ocean line and go straight to the pass. If you come when the water is close to the pass, then when accelerating you have to do it parallel to the beach and then turn left, which will take from your speed. You will also have hard time harder time to find and follow the established tracks, which will further more slow you down and get you stuck on the hill. Good luck!

This cleaner and more spacious beach is fabulous with its very white sand dunes and clear (but very cold) water. We had to wear full suits to avoid the jelly fish. Saw many but were not stung at all. The day was a sunny bliss. Apply sunscreen repeatedly as the sun there is unforgiving and the breeze masks your sunburn until you get back to your hotel.

Such amazing history and nature. There is so much to see on K'gari you could spend days exploring. Such an enjoyable experience and one of my favourite things I did when on my travels in Australia. I loved the dream-time stories about this wonderful island and all the sites to see.

The Indigenous name for this place has an interesting and somewhat sad history but the Dreamtime story is fascinating!

This is the aboriginal name for Fraser Island. We did a one night, two day tour, which mean we got to see things that day trippers don’t. This was definitely worth it. I’m also glad we didn’t rent our own 4WD as driving along the tracks and beaches was super bumpy and difficult! My personal favourite areas were the Champagne Pools, Indian Head and Lake McKenzie. It’s a beautiful place and something you should do when in Aus.
