About Falla Reef Trips
The Falla is a wooden ship, built in Broome, W.A. in 1956 to dive for mother of pearl. She worked with the ancient bronze helmet dive gear until 1963 when demand for the material dwindled due to the advent of plastics. For all of the next half century she has managed to make a living for herself, fishing, then cray fishing. In 1988 she made her way to Cairns and the Great Barrier Reef. She has been treating guests to this wonder, in small groups ever since. She is still diving. You can do your first SCUBA dive aboard this classic Pearl Lugger and become part of her history or go for a snorkel. Either way, you can soak up the atmosphere of those historical days gone by or enjoy the magic that is the Great Barrier Reef.

Did scuba and snorkeling on the Falla with Doug as skipper. Am a certified diver and did not know what to expect as this particular boat does not go out as far as the larger boats. The reef was in excellent condition and we saw...More

That was my personal best reef trip! A funny captain a cool crew, top snorkeling spot! If you looking for a unusual trip with less people then on the other ships! 😉 Perfect tour, nothing more to say! 👍👍👍👍👍

Trip with Falla was amazing, possibly the best part of our stay in Cairns. Captain Doug and the crew were great and the dive we did was stunning. Definite recommendation

We had a snorkel trip to the barrier reef booked today on the Falla then decided to upgrade to the scuba dive option which is advertised. There was a slight issue with the number of air tanks available at the time, however it was quickly...More

Went aboard the Falla for a reef trip - poor weather made for rocky seas and as such, the group unanimously agreed to go to the less rocky, more sheltered Fitzroy Island. We were able to visit two spots and were given more than enough...More

We had a great trip to a quiet reef on the opposite side of Fitzroy Island to where most of the trips go. We snorkelled in clear calm water and saw lots of different fishes and corals. On the voyage home our skipper told us...More

In addition to lunch meat for sandwiches, Captain Doug offers a few salads. You could always make yourself a cheese sandwich if you eat dairy. Enjoy! It’s a wonderful experience!
