West End (together with Fortitude Valley) is Brisbane's last bastion of what might be tactfully termed bohemian/left bank/grunge personified/colorful. Full of homeless people, drunken aboriginals, cockroaches, rats, mice, flying rats (pigeons) and hippies. Dirty place with dilapidated shop fronts. Needs to be completely renovated.

This area has also been an area for migrants including my grandparents in the early 1900s. Eateries from around the world, lots of vegan & vegetarian places. Quirky shops, fashion, food markets at night, Saturday morning markets on the river, factory outlet shops, plant nurseries,...More

I enjoy trendy West End for it’s understated yet trendy vibe; a short way from the heart of the city and only a 10 minute stroll from SouthBank. The streets are relaxed, not bustling like most on South Bank and in the Brisbane CBD but...More

The food was very good. But the service was unfriendly, the waitresses looked stone faced, no expression, no smile! I would not go back.

I always hear about West End when people talk about trendy Brisbane suburbs. All excited, I made my way down Boundary Street and barely found anywhere worth opening the wallet. It cannot be compared to the trendy areas in Sydney and Melbourne. Roti Place was...More

I re-visited West End with my family recently and really enjoyed the experience. There is such a range of restaurants, bars, people who visit and choices of coffee lounges. On Friday night, there are the West End market food stalls where you can get cheap...More

We stayed in the Westend for three days with our young children. The location was great - about 20 mins walk from the South Bank’s attractions. There were plenty of places to eat from quirky cafes, and numerous international cuisines.

Was for a conference in Brisbane and after it finished we went to dinner at a lovely Greek restaurant, Lefkas. It was almost as good as the food I had in Greece. Try the octopus.
