One of the Waterfront's coolest attractions is the Wave Lagoon: a palm-fringed swimming pool that turns into a tube-riding, boogie-boarding bucket of fun when the waves roll in every 20 minutes. The fully patrolled Wave Lagoon is two metres at its deepest point and slopes to a shallow area of still water, perfect for families. Bring your book: there are plenty of banana lounges, beach umbrellas and shady patches of lawn. Aqua Zumba classes every Sunday from 9am are a HUGE hit with tourists and locals alike.

We splashed about for half an hour or so. It was a pleasant break from shopping and eating. Not expensive and lots of boards and tubes to play on.

Great morning here. Gets busy in the afternoon but the kids loved it. My kids are surfers so they want you to know there’s no actual waves (as in, wave breaks) but they had a ball (8 and 10 yrs).

Very good value for a fun afternoon activity. Purchase a wrist band at the kiosk which lets you enter and exit all day. Change rooms were tidy and clean. We hired a locker do $5 that you could access multiple times. There were not loads...More

Went to the wave pool twice. Wonderful and you just go into the water so many times. Lots of deck chairs to sunbathe on. Once you have paid to go in you can come and go all day. Waves are amazing and there is big...More

The wave cycles had quite some gaps & not that fabulous. Bring your own flotation toy though, cause people keep hold of them all day.

We decided to have a quiet day after sight seeing around town. It was a good place to lay around with a good book and jump in for a swim.

Nice location with a chlorinated wave pool surrounded by manicured lawns. Entry fee (unlike the free lagoons in Townsville) and if you are there first, you can grab a beach lounge or an inflatable ring to bob up and down in the waves. There are...More

This is a great activity to have with the kids or young at heart! Facilities are clean and affordable. Just grab an inertube or a boogie board and your off. Great fun!

I would recommend parking in the waterfront car park and pay parking at the pay station when leaving. The wave lagoon is in the waterfront complex. We found this most convenient with our children.
