The Deckchair Cinema is THE outdoor cinema on Darwin's Waterfront. We are a fully indepedent movie theatre operated by the Darwin Film Society, established in 1954, to give Darwin audiences unseen movies on the big screen. The Deckchair Cinema is located on Darwin's Waterfront (Jervois Road), and is open 7 nights a week from mid April to mid November. Gates open nightly at 6.30pm so you can enjoy a tropical sunset over Darwin Harbour before the 7.30pm screening. Our program is a diverse range of Australian, popular, family, foreign and classic films. Come down early, enjoy a refreshing beverage from our fully licensed kiosk or feast your taste buds on a hot meal from one of our food vendors. No BYO alcohol. We are easily accessible via a well-lit picturesque walkway from the City Esplanade and there is plenty of parking and bike racks available on site.

Near the waterfront and just down the hill from downtown. Free parking. Movies every nite during the Dry season. Dinner available and there's a bar. Almost magical. A must-do when in Darwin... at least once.

I associate going to the cinema with being fleeced at every opportunity. Well not at the Deckchair Cinema. These guys even let you bring your own food. Drinks must be paid for and even then prices are modest. Grab a chair near the fence to...More
