Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Kids enjoyed the stray cats. Zoo is a waste of time with animals you can see anywhere. If you like churchy stuff you will probably like the church. Free Turkish delight was the highlight.

Really enjoyed the visit to this monastery with small zoo.

Entry and parking is free, but you can (and should) donate some money for the upkeep and provision of toilet facilities.

There isn't much in terms of sightseeing on the island, so this was one of the highlights.

My only issue is with the mini-zoo as I felt the cages were small, but I'm not not generally a fan.

We visited the monastery on our way back to Lefkada City.
It is a very tranquil place, sweltering in the hot sun (we had 40 degrees).
I am not sure what people mean by the little zoo. We must have missed that (but maybe for the better).
There was a church which was really nice and a little souvenir shop where the nuns and monks (?) sell their self made honey, some iconic pictures and other things.
Be aware that you a) should be dressed appropriately and b) cannot enter the monastery between 2 and 4 pm as it is closed then.

Free entry but donation boxes spread around. Very peaceful and nice to quietly enjoy the views. Ladies must use one of the robes provided upon entry. It is a lovely place but not sure why they have the animals there, especially the deers outside in the blazing sun, we didn't like seeing that and not much room for them to move around.

Very tranquil place. Good to just take a moment and rest. Would of loved them to have a souvenir shop open as that would also help them but still worth a visit

Wonderful place for any visitor. The monastery also includes a small zoo with some cute animals to see.
The chapel and the surrounding buildings where the local priests reside is just amazing, perfectly taken care of and respected.
Recommended.

There are 2 deers suffering in the sun. One animal had very bad skin.It looked very bad. I ask the Monk if there was a dokter for the animals. He said that live was a wonder. And when an animal dies it dies. It was always like that. So they let it suffering. This very conservative way of thinking cannot last in this times. Free the animals of the Monastery!

We stumbled across this monastery on our way to the airport and so glad we did. The kids loved the small zoo and gardens and the views were fantastic. Sadly we were there when the monastery itself closes between 2 and 4 so only saw the buildings and courtyard from outside but even that was beautiful and peaceful. Will def return another time to visit the monastery properly. There are donation boxes all round the zoo for people to donate to help the monastery look after the animals.

Beautiful monastery, interesting museum and little zoo. Very nice view of the island. I had a little bunch of basil as a present from one of the monks, was a sweet nice surprise
