Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

My daughter, Niece and I visited the gardens on our last day in Auckland. It is beautiful, I wish I knew they had afternoon tea. It was a last minute decision. I was looking for something to do, and found this beautiful garden. The staff is very friendly. You buy your entrance ticket, and you are given a map. Just walk all over, you will see beautiful plants, flowers, a waterfall, and even a beautiful parrot (a Rosella) if you're lucky. Go and enjoy lunch, a coffee, or afternoon tea. Take your time, get out of the busy city and enjoy.

We has a lovely time wandering around this garden. The Cafe was sweet, with tasty food and a beautiful view when sitting in the courtyard. It was a beautiful way to spend an afternoon and the view from the Hillary Heights walk was nice.

This garden is a hidden Auckland gem! After hiking up and down Mount Eden, I visited the garden and it was beautiful! Hard to imagine this was once an abandoned quarry! There were beautiful walkways, lined with flowers and flowering bushes, and multiple benches placed throughout all the trails of the garden. If you hike up yo the top of the garden, the views are nice as well. So glad I went!

First time to these Gardens

You get charged a hefty "entry fee" to see small gardens, pay for food at a very average cafe, spend your money at an overpriced gift shop, and have to deal with limited parking area

And if you are thinking of taking someone in a wheelchair for a nice day out, well think again, as only a small section is actually "wheelchair friendly" with signs up all over the place saying walking paths not suitable for wheelchairs !
Walking paths in City Gardens such as these not wheelchair accessible?
Seriously folks?

What a let down for disabled people and their families, and for the public in general

The Management of Eden Garden needs to seriously review the direction this venue is going in

Gardens are nice but the high tea is really ordinary for $52 per head. Poor service and to top it off when I requested more tea I was told I had to pay extra. A pot of tea is one tea bag and hot water. Not recommended

Visited here because there was a Tulip display. Hadn't been before - & expected they would have a car park, but no. Narrow street, cars parked both sides, expect to have quite a big walk back to the gardens from Mountain Road (unless you are very lucky & chance on a park by the Gardens). Tulips were absolutely beautiful, the walks were great - very well looked after and a very relaxed place to explore. Had lunch at the cafe - lots of choices, not cheap, but nice food. Overall would thoroughly recommend it.

These gardens are situated in a former quarry. They are well laid out with paths, mostly wide and sealed but some more rough gravelly narrow ones, ambling through trees, shrubs and flower beds. It is a very peaceful and tranquil spot. There are benches or seats scattered throughout the gardens. Unfortunately when we went a few of the paths were closed for maintenance. But we were still able to wander through the lower areas of the gardens. Water features and some sculptures enhance the gardens. There is a cafe on site where we enjoyed a delicious Devonshire tea. The service was very quick! The staff friendly and welcoming. There is ample parking available. It's a good idea to wear walking shoes especially for the upper more steep paths. It is worth a visit in any season of the year!

Really enjoyed visiting this place, plenty of seats to sit in tranquil surroundings, well kept gardens in an old quarry.
One drawback however is that it isn't suitable for wheelchair users as there are some steep banks.
Good selection of food and drinks at the cafe, well worth a visit

Situated in Auckland, a city of 1000000 plus people, Eden Garden is an oasis of calm, peace and serenity, it’s five acres appear natural (they aren’t!) and one can meander along shady pathways, up and down well paved steps (one or two did lack handrails however) gazing at seasonal flowers - hibiscus at this time of the year (it was a very hot summer’s day). We really enjoyed the cafe too.
