Great - but don't expect a car park !
Sep 2020
Visited here because there was a Tulip display. Hadn't been before - & expected they would have a car park, but no. Narrow street, cars parked both sides, expect to have quite a big walk back to the gardens from Mountain Road (unless you are very lucky & chance on a park by the Gardens). Tulips were absolutely beautiful, the walks were great - very well looked after and a very relaxed place to explore. Had lunch at the cafe - lots of choices, not cheap, but nice food. Overall would thoroughly recommend it.

Tranquil garden in urban environment
Jun 2020
These gardens are situated in a former quarry. They are well laid out with paths, mostly wide and sealed but some more rough gravelly narrow ones, ambling through trees, shrubs and flower beds. It is a very peaceful and tranquil spot. There are benches or seats scattered throughout the gardens. Unfortunately when we went a few of the paths were closed for maintenance. But we were still able to wander through the lower areas of the gardens. Water features and some sculptures enhance the gardens. There is a cafe on site where we enjoyed a delicious Devonshire tea. The service was very quick! The staff friendly and welcoming. There is ample parking available. It's a good idea to wear walking shoes especially for the upper more steep paths. It is worth a visit in any season of the year!

Tranquil place
Mar 2020 • Couples
Really enjoyed visiting this place, plenty of seats to sit in tranquil surroundings, well kept gardens in an old quarry.
One drawback however is that it isn't suitable for wheelchair users as there are some steep banks.
Good selection of food and drinks at the cafe, well worth a visit

Oasis of peace, calm and serenity
Feb 2020 • Friends
Situated in Auckland, a city of 1000000 plus people, Eden Garden is an oasis of calm, peace and serenity, it’s five acres appear natural (they aren’t!) and one can meander along shady pathways, up and down well paved steps (one or two did lack handrails however) gazing at seasonal flowers - hibiscus at this time of the year (it was a very hot summer’s day). We really enjoyed the cafe too.

restful stunning place
Jan 2020
A very pleasant place to visit almost a meditative experience.
I often go there as I have a memorial tree there fro my late wife.
On a recent, I was astounded to learn about the cost of a memorial tree today. I paid $400 about 35 years ago. The price for a tree today is $3.200 which is a staggering increase and puts it out of reach of too many people. Perhaps they are running out of space which could be a reason for restricting access.

Hello Alistair - thank you so much for visiting us and we are so pleased you found the Garden continues to be such a special place for you. Our memorial fees have indeed increased over 35 years. On a rate of inflation over 35 years the $400 fee would now be $12,800. Our fees for a tree, with a 10 year association are now $3600 - which is very low compared to a crematorium. Eden Garden continues to be a not-or-profit organisation, unsupported by the Council and so all funds are invested back in to the Garden so that this special place can be enjoyed by future generations.

A stunning winter’s day in Auckland
Jun 2019 • Couples
We woke up to a crisp morning & the bluest skies with not a cloud in sight! This is winter in Auckland! Unbelievable! Well a walk with our wee dog was in order so we decided to re-visit the Eden Gardens as it was quite a while since we were last there. This proved to be such a great choice on a stunning day like the one we had. The gardens are just full of little secret places with plenty of seats dotted around so one is able to sit & warm the body while admiring the gardens in complete peacefulness. The sounds of birds singing & water flowing are wonderful to relax to & even a little meditation is possible if that is something you enjoy doing. You can walk to the top of the hill for stunning views or just meander throughout the gardens ferns and shrubbery. The camellias are stunning this time of year & daffodils are being planted for spring! We had a wee simple toasted sandwich with a light garden salad & a wee deserved mocha when our walk was done! So lovely to eat lunch sitting out in the sunshine in these beautiful gardens. I highly recommend this experience.

Miniature Botanical Gardens at the base of Mount Eden
Jun 2019 • Family
Very pretty gardens set at the bottom of Mount Eden, with a lovely cafe and good shop. Food beautifully presented and great portions. Half a dozen chickens in the garden help to control some of the pests add to the experience.

Aptly named - Eden Garden
Aug 2018 • Couples
There is unlikely to be such a unique and special place elsewhere. My wife and myself were there for a special occasion 'High Tea' and it couldn't have been more perfect.

Our late morning 'High Tea' included entry to the hidden garden paradise that extended deep into the ground behind the cafe which has been developed over many years with ancient trees, shrubs, ferns and tropical plants including a water fall that has to be seen to believe. Great value for sightseeing even with out using the cafe.
