Was not happy to experience the elephant trainer hitting the elephant with a stick to make it stand up after being washed I am appalled to think I visited this so called elephant sanctuary/hospital.

We had time on our hand and asked our driver to take to any place of his choice and lucky that he took to this place. You can relax at this place and the entry ticket is also less. You can see up close elephants...More

It's primarily an elephant training center. We could see some Sambar and dotted deers. Place is large, children could enjoy jungle and elephants. Not many activities for children. There are not many good restaurants any were near so better to carry some food.

If you look in tourist guides such as Lonely Planet (South India & Kerala page 303) they talk about the Elephant Training Camp at Kodanadu. That camp closed in March of 2017 and a new premises was opened, slightly closer to Cochin. The new premises...More

this is all that visitors who wants to see the elephant kraal gets to see now.. they have 4 female elephants and 2 males.. each of them have a story to ell and a chat with the mahouts will give you some interesting perspective on...More
