Having seen castles and palaces all over Italy, Castello di Torrechiara was way up there as one of the best. We went early in the morning and had the castle pretty much to ourselves. The frescoes that adorn the walls and roof of the rooms...More

Built by a nobleman for his mistress, the castle is easy to reach by car: there are two parking possibilities: at the bottom of the castle there's a small parking; if you drive further up you can park the car on the side of the...More

Of all the many castello's in the Parma surroundings, we recommend visiting this one in particular. The views are breathtaking (on a sunny and clear day). This 15th century fortress has recently been painstakingly restored and houses various unexpectedly elegant rooms. It's possible to stroll...More

We visited the Castello with friends from Parma. Overall, it's an interesting place, but there are so many interesting places in the region this doesn't really stand out. The views are great and the Castello has some interesting history. Worth a visit if you are...More

What a castle not easy to find it. Inside there is nothing, it is more a view and contest of the parma hills.

It is easy to see why this is a World Heritage Site. We were lucky to go in late September when there were no crowds. We parked up by the castle (alternative is to park below and walk up if the upper lot is full)....More
