We drove from our hotel in the Isla Canela, over a 1 1/2 hour drive each way but well worth seeing this fascinating place. It was a great day out. It is a must for anyone who enjoys seeing spectacular landscapes, dramatic scenery or who...More

Minas de Riotinto is a weard place to visit. The village with its mining museum is worth a visit. Coming from the south, drive on over the A-461 to the north. On the right side you see the deep mining area. Near the first industrial...More

Enjoyable day out for the family, however the site has so much more potential. We had rudimentary Spanish and knowing that this was going to be Spanish we went along. We did the full package of trips. The train ride has Spanish commentary but to...More

Train journey down the valley was great way to see industrial past and natural landscape remaining. Guide around the minas was very informative. Difficult to get round all the sites in one day.

This is a really interesting area for its geology, mining and social history. The museum is excellent, especially the reconstruction of the Roman mine, complete with the wheel the slaves worked at 100m depth to pump the water. The explanations are all in Spanish so...More

It was a very interesting ride on the train along the Rio Tinto River past the disused mines and abandoned buildings, railways engines, wagons and sidings. Though pretty, the last bit through the pine woods by the red tinted river was a bit long. The...More

the old mining train was very exciting. The landscape has a unrealistic view at certain points. Although it was very cloudy the colours were amazing. A must do !
