Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

A group of us attended 2 classes at the NZ Cheese School, which is part of Over the Moon Cheese in Putaruru. This was a a fantastic day out, and well worth the trip.
Who knew that we could all make cheese!
Neil and Sue were so giving of their knowledge, recipes and their time. The classes are very hands-on and interactive and enjoyable.
Thank you so much Neil and Sue for the wonderful experience myself and my friends enjoyed it very much. We totally recommend this to everyone who wants to make cheese. Looking forward to tasting the feta soon.

I recently went to two workshops with TNZCS - Feta and Mozzarella. Fantastic. During the Feta workshop we not only made Feta, we also learnt how to make Yoghurt, Ricotta and Mascarpone. Awesome value for money. During the Mozzarella workshop we learnt two ways to make this cheese; the second method means I can make this cheese in 10 minutes and look like a cheese genius!

Thanks Neil and Sue. I loved the hands on nature of the workshop, the willingness to share your knowledge and that we weren't pressured into purchasing specialist equipment. I really liked the 'common kitchen' solutions which were offered so my kitchen cupboards don't become cluttered with more 'stuff'.

A really fun and informative day.

I attended the Feta and Mozzarella classes with a two friends. The class were the right blend of information, hands on and Neil was a great trainer. I came home with cheese and the confidence to give making cheese a go. I also learnt a lot about cheese.
All that aside my friends and I had great time and I’d recommend this to Kiwis and visitors. You will get an appreciation of what happens to milk and/or where your cheese comes from. Thanks guys.

I do this review in English and not Korean becaise I want people (international students) to read this review.
Teacher has good knowledge of cheesemaking but not really share knowledge with everyone. Teach very fast in english and not answer questions.. say u come to my another course.

Also a lot of time wasting in this course as we only make cheese in specific time. Rest time is free.
So course only 3 days but extend to 5 days. so waste of time.

I should done another course somewhere else.

We are very disappointed that you were not satisfied with the course that you attended as we take pride in delivering a high standard of tuition. We do NOT believe that the review you have presented is a fair reflection of our course. At no stage during the course were any of these issues you mentioned raised with our trainer. During the 5-day course, which is intended to deliver hands on training experience, you and your team partner were given 5 different cheeses to make over the 5 days. These cheeses were washed rind, Triple Cream Brie, Wensleydale, Blue vein and Red Leicester. As well as this you making these cheeses, you were able to get experience in the maturing rooms, with washing rinds, turning Brie and Camembert and also to pack cheese. You were given very personalised instruction with 1 trainer per two students. If you want to become a cheesemaker, a 5-day course is not long enough to get all the experience you will need. With regards to not answering questions, we are not sure how you can make that claim. At the end of each day our trainer spent 30 minutes or more in a debrief and question and answer session until all questions were exhausted. We are always concerned about how much of the course is being understood by someone with English as a second language. Students with limited English language skills may not always understand all of the material taught. The suggestion that the students could attend our other course is a valid one. Our other course is a classroom based theory course with its focus on cheesemaking principles and practices. In this course the underpinning knowledge that cheesemakers need to understand why things happen during cheesemaking and to solve problems and to develop new cheeses is taught. This cannot be covered in the 5 day hands on practical course and most of our students who go on to become commercial cheesemakers do both courses. We ask our students to do a course evaluation at the end of most of our courses. On a rating of 1-10 we average a rating of 9/10 with many 10/10 ratings. Many of our students are international students from countries such as USA, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Norway, Australia, Singapore, Honk Kong, and until now we have had nothing but excellent comments from all of them. Our trainer has taught the commercial cheesemakers from in Australia, New Zealand and many other countries over the past 33 years and is highly regarded.

Attend one of their courses which was informative although a little unstructured. I am very disappointed in their follow up service however. Had a few questions and issue after following their technique and recipe. Submitted question via the email address they sent their invoice with as no other email address was provided but never got a response.

Hello and thanks for your feedback on our course and service, and we're really sorry that we didn't meet our own standards for getting back to you in a timely way. You must have had the impression we don't care when we really do! We appreciate the time you took to send us your concerns as it has made us review and improve our systems. By way of explanation we have had groups of students here every day (except Sunday) since your original email, and that's obviously been a little disruptive to our normal administration routine. We've redirected responsibility for answering emails during these periods for the future. Thanks for helping us improve, and apologies again for not getting back to you more quickly. Kind regards, Sue Arthur, Director

Whether you wish to study or eat cheese, this is a trip advisor must stop! The variety of soft, medium and hard artisan cheeses is an explosion of taste to the discerning palate and mind. The plethora of cheese awards is a giveaway to the high quality…and the extemporary wonderful staff and the extraordinaire expertise of master cheese-maker Neil Willman clearly flow into the exquisite taste of the cheese.

I had a great day at the Cheese School. The day was very hands-on, and there was also lots of explanation of why we were doing what we were doing, which de-mystified the process and helped me understand and remember. We made Haloumi and Brie, and I've been able to repeat the processes at home on my own with good results (looking forward to trying the Brie - just 3 more weeks to wait!!).
I loved it, and I'm really enjoying making cheese at home.

Had a great day 18 March 2016!
Made Blue vein and mozzarella, Neil had so much knowledge to pass on and had no issue doing so.
Every person there was really, really friendly.
I brought a cheese making kit and look forward to giving it a go on my own.
I hope to get a group together to go back and try making other cheeses.

Thanks for your comments Steve. I love teaching people about cheese and even more so when the participants are enthusiastic. Would love to have you and your group back again. You may even consider it as a private course for your group of friends. cheers Neil

Four family members went because one had been given vouchers for Christmas. We were interested but not really keen. Well that was at the start. By the end of the class none of us wanted to leave! THIS WAS GREAT.

We were told the science, shown the practical and took home the results.

Neil was a wonderful teacher, gave each of us individual attention and helped us all achieve a great batch of mozzarella balls.

There were nine people in all that were split into two teams .... this in no way diminished the quality of teaching we received. THUMBS UP Neil.

Thanks and it's great to get your wonderful feedback. Sounds like your group had a ball (pun intended). Learning should be fun as well and its our intention to make every workshop enjoyable, educational and memorable. Enthusiasm from participants and great subject matter are the catalysts for enthusiasm from me. Cheers Neil
