Went during very heavy fog, it was very hard to see the smoke coming out of the furnas. The circular path was also quite confusing, though quite well kept and with plenty of informative plaques.

The fumaroles are visible in a well maintained section of the island and a fenced path guides the visitors around. Apart from the fumaroles, many birds and flowers are visible.

Natural geysers can be easly reach due to nice restauration of the vulcano site. Lots of information about the fauna and flora . Worth it!

A very small geothermal site. If you have never seen geothermal activity, and will not do so in the near future, and happen to be in the area, it’s worth the short time it takes to see it. Parking is very close.

You can watch some geothermal activity going on. We have been there on a rainy day so the smell of sulphur wasn't that intense. The trail is very easy and you can easily do it with young kids.

Not that much geothermal activity going on. Possibility of doing some hikes. Not that interesting, there are better ways to spend time on Terceira.

This was pretty neat. It's a boardwalk that takes you around a smoldering volcano. You can see where the vegetation died off. You can smell the sulfur as it rises out of the ground. At one point you can bend down and feel how hot...More

A short walk in an enclosed pathway allows you to see Mother Nature in action. This is not a spectacle of gigantic proportions, however one can appreciate that the island indeed volcanic.

The smell wasn't as bad as I was expecting, however it was only early march. The weather wasn't the most favorable the day we went but we took the short route walk around. This is an awesome natural attraction to see the smoke rising from...More
