This is a steep walk from Assisi, but worth it. This is the location of the first Franciscan community. It houses the room and dining table used by St Clare, a chapel, and other historic artifacts. Before you make the walk check the hours. Since...More

We have been to Assisi many times but first time to Santuario di Rivotorto. Such a powerful experience, in the stone shelter where Francesco gathered the first of the brothers. To sit where they would have sheltered and prayed.. was so special. Outside high above...More

Here one feels the freshness of the Fransiscans. In this church are the first stable-sheds where the first franciscans prayed and came together and healed the sick and weary. Visit the nearby WW2 gravefield hereafter. Ponder about our freedom.

As the name suggests this church was built upon the hovels in which St. Francis and his followers lived. A very interesting visit. The church is well looked after bythe Franciscan Friars.

A but far app 5kms. 4 from Assisi railway station. Linea C bus available. But very few services. We walked. Old cathedral is nestled in the new one. Very important for St Francis lovers. Nice view of Assisi. Good farms.

A moderate sized church built around two very small rooms that show the way St. Francis and his early followers lived while he beginning his time as a servant of God. It is here that he wrote things that stated the importance of simplicity, poverty,...More
