Medenine is a town located in southern Tunisia. When we arrived we came across a large market, it was a great experience We are attracted by the beautiful and unusual granaries (ghorfas). They served as storehouses, shops and fortifications. The town is now a trade center for dates, olives, cereals. Nice place to visit.

This was a good hour's drive from Medinine but the countryside beautiful...lots of mountains and great views. If you stop before the turning to the Ksar there is a guide there who follows you up (we gave him 5 dinar). The ksar is interesting enough and old. The guide recommended a restaurant too which was on the way back to Medinine following a different road (go back down the hill from the ksar and take a sharp left for about 5km (it is signposted). Fab views and clean bathroom. We had a great day out from Djerba.
