I love the view from this ruin - on clear days you have a very good view over the valley of the river rhine. The ruin itself is alright - but there are others nearby I like more.

We stumbled across here whilst on holiday and so glad that we did. It was a lovely place to go and visit. Was not busy at all and very easy to find a parking space.

The castle Landeck was built sometimes 1220 to 1237 for the protection of Klingenmunster Monastery. It served under Bishop of Speyer and Count Zweibrucken. After the death of Zweibrucken dynasty the castle was owned by Electors of Kurpfalz. There are great views of South Pfalzwald.…

It was impressive that a burg or fort could be built atop a mountain top. The view from atop the upper most tower was breathe taking. The restaurant within the burg served great sausages and beer. I found the experience more enjoyable by hiking to Landeck rather than driving. However, the trail is not for the faint of heart.…
