Obviously you have to make the hike up the hill as this is the only statue in town, and is of great historical significance. But once you've seen it, you can tick it off!

This is a great monument of the memories of the Second World War addressed to the Soviet Solders who rescued Norway from the fascists. Nice to see that not everywhere people fill hate to Soviet Union and Russia.

This was the turn around point of our holiday so decided to go on excursion. I never realised that Germany occupied this area of Norway and that it was bombed by the Russians who later liberated the town. We visited the Schengen Border between Russia...More

As a Brit, we don’t often get to see things from the point of view of the Russians being saviours so it was a fascinating insight into the experiences of the Norwegians during the war and the massive role that Russia has played in this...More

In Central Europe we know too little of the fact that WWII caused heavy fighting in this northernmost town of Europe. This onument reminds us! As does the Andersgrotta - a bomb bunker in its vicinity.
