The amphitheatre was inaugurated in the year 8 BC. This building was intended for gladiatorial fights and combats between beasts or men and beasts.

Another stunning location next to the Roman Theatre making the overall visit very easy. Good underfoot conditions on a well signed walking route. Some steps but with care these are managable

Another wonderful spectacle in Merida! Easy to walk around and you can go onto the arena and try to visualise all that went on here! Good descriptions of various gladiators are provided.

This place is a must for all visitors to Merida. Beautifully preserved and full of interesting angles for the amature photographer. A good spot for families as the kids will also find it interesting and have space to play around.
