It is definitely worth driving or cycling up through the vineyards to the top of the hill to visit. The chateau itself is impressive and has great views though be aware that there is no furniture and the history is not as exciting as others....More
Renaissance Château de Monbazillac has such a lovely wine. Sauterne and Monbazillac are my favorite wines. Chateau Monbazillac produces very delicate wine and 2013 is not as sweet as 2014 wine, so we bought a few bottles to take back home to California.

The chateau is rather mundane. I can understand why the local vineyard owner clubbed together to save the Chateau, but it is a tad dull, filled largely with unrelated exhibits. I'm glad we went though.
