I rarely pay to visit places such as this but with the autumn colours, there was little debate when it came to paying $15 and spending the afternoon admiring nature at its prettiest. You could spend hours meandering between bushes and trees, admiring the flowers...More

This Arboretum really is worth a 20 minute detour from the highway. It features a huge number of unusual trees and provides numerous walking tracks to view them. We went late one cold and drizzling Sunday autumn morning and often had paths to ourselves. The...More

Even on a rainy summers day this was well worth a trip out of town. They have huge umbrellas available and clearly marked paths so the kids had a great time racing around through the trees. I'm sure it must be awesome in autumn and...More

We came as a group of two families with 6 kids between us. The cost is $28 per family (2 adults and 2 children) with each additional child costing $2. It takes about 30 minutes to drive from Gisborne through pretty remote farmland. We needed...More

Wonderful vision from the founder who was planting trees (of all kinds) while the neighbours and everyone else were knocking them over. Love the story of his predilection for planting in the nude (one gumboot only for spade work). Lots of meandering tracks and pathways,...More

Being from NZ you'll know that autumn has begun. Perhaps wait another few weeks to allow for the autumnal colours to set in.
