Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

On our way back to Palovit waterfall, we visited this place as well. The view is very good, be careful if you have small children, the stairs are steep and dangerous. Ideal for those who love historical texture. Every part of the castle is explained. Entrance is 12 TL, children are free.

This is probably the most well preserved and explained castle ruins we've seen in Turkey. We enjoyed all the signs describing each area and room. Very well done!

The fortress itself is not that large and is not intact. The views from it are very good. This is in the Kaçkar national park, and there are areas with very large waterfalls worth seeing , nearby

I haven't seen inside as I have seen the castle on my way to highlands, hurrying up to catch the sunset. I have it on my checklist now! I hope inside is not ruined with bad restoration as from the outside it is really a sight to see with forests and mountains in the background.

A very impressive castle viewed from any angle. Definately not a ruin. İt was closed when we visited in January but we were still able to walk round the walls. The information boards were interesting and informative.
İ hope to return in summer when it's open. The drive upto the castle is very interesting too with Alpine like views and tiny hamlets. You can also walk across a stone arched bridge built in 1693.

A must stop, simple and sweet. Definitely worth a tour, but those with little ones note the lack of guard rails and steep drops. Spectacular views of the valley and river below.

One of the main point of other 4 castles used for defence, caravans etc in old times, 750m up from sea level and 100m up from the river. Restorated 2011. You can find a cafe to have some drinks and foods.

This is a must see. You can walk around the castle and enjoy looking down at the valley and up to the mountains. It is so well kept.

Then have a cup of tea at the cafe next door and continue to the Polavit waterfall.
