I feel very conflicted recommending Lough Hyne. Last time I was here it was an oasis of calm and seclusion. I watched the turning of the tide, the unique hinged seaweed in the sea channel flip over. I saw choughs and heard their very special...More

Loch Hyne is a unique lake, and it's hard to believe that in places this small loch is 45 metres deep - deeper than Bantry Bay! On one level its a smallish lake in beautiful surroundings and clearly popular for kayaking and swimming. It's real...More

Wow, a saltwater lake! What's not to like. We even saw a seal in the lake which isn't all that common. Evenif it was a common seal! Some crazy people were swimming, and you can kayak I think.

Must see place, Europe's only saltwater lake and a stunning location. Easy to find off the road from Skibereen to Baltimore and plenty of parking places by the lake to pull in and enjoy the view. We arrived here around 11am on a sunny Saturday...More

Stunning scenery and setting. Great place to go for a lovely forest walk, take in the views of the area and then go for a swim.
